What are the responsibilities and job description for the Nurse Extern - Temporary position at KINGS DAUGHTERS MEDICAL CENTER?
An extern is an auxiliary person enrolled in a school of nursing employed to carry out asked supportive and complimentary duties to nursing practices. The extern performs specific duties that have been mastered in his/her course of study and satisfactory performed under the supervision of an RN preceptor.
Education
- Graduate of an accredited high school/GED preferred.
- Must be within one year of graduation from an approved nursing school. A minimum grade of "C" in nursing courses preferred.
Certification/Licensure
- Current CPR certification required
Special Qualifications
- Maintain good physical and emotional health.
- Gives evidence of knowledge and ability to use proper channels of communication.
- Is able to remain calm and function under stress.
- Demonstrates ability and cooperation in rotation of shift and/or duty areas.
- Promotes harmonious inter- and intra-department relationships.
- Fully vaccinated COVID-19 status preferred.
Physical Demands
- Subject to irregular hours and weekend work as needed.
- Requires interaction with patients, families and fellow employees on a daily and constant basis.
- Possible exposure to communicable diseases, infections and radiation.
A Nurse Extern Packet must be completed along with your application. Packets can be picked up in the KDMC Human Resource office from Monday - Friday 730am - 330pm.
All packets must be returned to KDMC Human Resource office by 3:30 pm on Monday, February 17th.
