What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sleep Tech - RFT - Sleep Lab position at KINGS DAUGHTERS MEDICAL CENTER?
JOB SUMMARY
- Perform scoring of all sleep studies, including polysomnography (PSG), maintenance of wakefulness test (MWT), multiple sleep latency test (MSLT), BiPAP/CPAP titration, and split night studies according to AASM scoring standards and guidelines.
- Perform inter-scorer reliability assessments according to AASM scoring standards and guidelines.
- Complete Scoring/Interpretation Reports according to AASM standards and guidelines and in accordance with Sleep Lab Policy and Procedure.
- Perform polysomnography (PSG) according to AASM practice parameters and sleep lab policy, procedure, and protocol.
- Perform pediatric sleep studies (children > 5 years old) according to AASM practice parameters and sleep lab policy, procedure, and protocol.
- Perform maintenance of wakefulness test (MWT) according to AASM practice parameters and sleep lab policy, procedure, and protocol
- Perform multiple sleep latency test (MSLT) according to AASM practice parameters and sleep lab policy, procedure, and protocol.
- Perform split-night studies according to AASM practice parameters and sleep lab policy, procedure, and protocol.
- Provide appropriate documentation during sleep studies.
- Perform sleep lab procedures utilizing a technician-to-patient ratio of 1:2 minimum under usual circumstances. A ratio of 1:1 may be required for certain patient populations.
- Sleep Study file management
- Patient preparation, electrode and sensor application, and calibration
- Cardiopulmonary resuscitation
- Operation, maintenance, and management of noninvasive positive pressure ventilation device (BiPAP)
- BiPAP titration according to sleep lab protocol
- Operation, maintenance, and management of noninvasive continuous positive airway pressure device (CPAP)
- CPAP titration according to sleep lab protocol
- Oxygen therapy – setup and titration, including delivery from oxygen concentrator.
- Pulse Oximetry
- Coordination of all quality assurance activities of the department with guidance of Cardiopulmonary Manager
- Quality control of all equipment
- Equipment cleaning, disinfection, reassembling and troubleshooting.
- Participation in in-service education programs
- Maintain departmental records.
- Make copies and file test results.
- Other assigned duties
- High school diploma/GED preferred.
- Minimum of one year experience performing sleep studies.
- Experience with Respironics Alice 5 system preferred.
- Current CPR certification required.
- On-the-job training provided.
- This position requires frequent use of a computer and analyzing graphics.
