JOB POSITION : Accounting Manager
REPORTS TO : President
As the Accounting Manager, you will play a crucial role in overseeing and optimizing the company’s Accounting Department. You will establish accounting operational strategies by evaluating trends, establishing critical measurements, determining production, productivity, quality, and customer-service strategies, designing systems, accumulating resources, resolving problems, and implementing change.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
Manage and develop a comprehensive accounting program, which integrates Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAP), Governmental Accounting Standards, statutory accounting requirements, and departmental fiscal policies and procedures.
Provide strategic direction and leadership to the accounting department, ensuring alignment with the company's overall goals and objectives.Develop and implement operational policies, procedures, and standards to enhance efficiency and quality of service.Team Leadership and Development :Lead, motivate, and manage a diverse accounting team.
Foster a positive and inclusive work environment, promoting teamwork and professional development.Supervise and mentor accounting staff, providing training and performance evaluations.Delegate tasks effectively and manage workload distribution among the accounting team.Financial Reporting and Analysis :Oversee the preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
Ensure accurate and timely month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.Provide financial analysis, forecasting, and reporting to support strategic decision-making.Budgeting and Forecasting :Develop, manage, and monitor annual budgets in collaboration with other departments.
Prepare and analyze budget variance reports, identifying trends and making recommendations for corrective actions.Lead the forecasting process to provide updated financial outlooks.Compliance and AuditEnsure compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
Coordinate with external auditors during audits and implement recommendations.Maintain and update accounting policies and procedures to comply with regulations and best practices.General Ledger Management :Oversee and maintain the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
Reconcile accounts and ensure proper documentation of transactions.Manage the chart of accounts and implement changes as needed.Cash Flow Management :Monitor and manage cash flow, including accounts receivable and accounts payable processes.
Implement strategies to optimize working capital and cash flow.Develop cash flow forecasts to support business operations.Systems and Process Improvement :Evaluate and implement accounting systems and tools to improve efficiency and accuracy.
Identify opportunities for process improvement and lead initiatives to streamline operations.Ensure the integration of accounting systems with other business systems.Strategic Planning :Participate in strategic planning discussions and provide financial insights to support company goals.
Assist in evaluating and executing financial strategies, including mergers and acquisitions.Collaborate with other departments to align financial goals with overall business objectives.Risk Management :Assess and mitigate financial risks related to the company’s operations and investments.
Ensure proper internal controls are in place to safeguard company assets.Manage insurance coverage and coordinate with risk management professionals.Communication and Collaboration :Communicate financial performance and key metrics to senior management.
Collaborate with other departments to support cross-functional initiatives and projects.Act as a liaison between the accounting department and external parties, such as banks and investorsRepresentation & Networking :As a representative of the company, you will attend external and internal events, showcasing our brand and building valuable connections within the industry.
Policy and Procedure Adherence :Ensure all policies and procedures are meticulously followed, fostering a culture of compliance and accountability throughout the organization.
