General Description: King's Way Christian Schools is a private, Christian school dedicated to serving students from 12 months through 12th grade located in beautiful Vancouver, Washington. King's Way partners with families to provide a Christ-centered education for the whole child, leading to life change in each student.
Our Learning Center employs Teacher Assistants to help provide children with the best care in our early learning environment. An Assistant's role is primarily to support the lead teacher(s) throughout the day and help children to feel safe and loved.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in implementing developmentally appropriate child centered curriculum, posted lesson plans and class schedules from your lead teacher.
- Establish and maintain positive communication using collaborative methods to problem solve and interact with families, children, and staff.
- Supervise, interact, and play with children during assigned times of responsibilities.
- Follow established plans to meet the needs of the individual children with concerns for interests, disabilities, special talents, cultural background and individual styles.
- Provide general housekeeping tasks such as sweeping and picking up toys and materials used in projects. (i.e. washing toys during nap time, etc.)
- Ability to lift up to 40lbs. and use chemicals (i.e. bleach) for cleaning.

Required Education, Experience, and Skills:
- 1 year of experience in an early learning environment (preferred)
- Flexible and willing to step in and help where needed to support the team
- Good communication skills and ability to develop positive working relationships with coworkers, administration, students and parents
- Have completed, or ability to obtain STARS basic training through MERIT
- Bloodborne Pathogen training (provided upon hire)
- Current certificate in CPR/First Aid or ability to obtain certification
- Current Washington Food Handlers card, or ability to obtain one
- Ability to complete Safe Sleep training provided by DCYF (required for certain classrooms)
- Willingness and ability to obtain an Initial ECE Certificate within 5 years of hire
- Must be able to pass a fingerprint background check to be alone with children
