General Description and Qualifications: King’s Way Christian Schools is a private, Christian school dedicated to serving students from 12 months through 12th grade located in beautiful Vancouver, Washington. King’s Way partners with families to provide a Christ-centered education for the whole child, leading to life change in each student.
We are currently seeking a Dean of Students to work in our middle school with 6th through 8th grade students in a certificated position. As a Christian leader, the successful candidate shall prayerfully assist the middle school administration, staff, and faculty in ensuring smooth daily operations and creating a vibrant learning environment. This role shall be filled by a person of spiritual maturity who will support the core values of King’s Way Christian Schools. Job Duties:
1. Student Behavior and Discipline Management
- Promote and uphold high standards for student behavior in alignment with the school’s mission and Christian values.
- Respond to day-to-day behavior incidents; partner with students, teachers, and parents to resolve conflicts and maintain a safe, respectful environment.
- Track attendance, behavioral trends, and disciplinary records; develop accountability or improvement plans as needed.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to implement school-wide policies, advisory topics, and student support plans.
2. Oversee Extracurricular Activities
- Supervise and support middle school student events and activities, including weekly FunDay Fridays, awards ceremonies, and seasonal celebrations.
- Coordinate and communicate the Middle School Missions & Activities Calendar and oversee implementation.
- Attend student extracurricular events to foster school spirit, engagement, and connection outside of the classroom.
- Support the planning and execution of student orientation, transitions (e.g., 5th to 6th Bridge Week), and end-of-year celebrations.
3. Support Day-to-Day Operations
- Assist in daily school operations by supporting the Principal and Office Staff with supervision, scheduling, substitute coordination, and administrative logistics.
- Oversee MAP testing logistics and help manage academic data and schedules in the school’s SIS (e.g., Alma).
- Participate in school-wide leadership meetings and committees as needed.
- Provide input on budgeting, purchasing, and planning as it pertains to middle school programs and events.
4. Parent-Teacher Communications
- Serve as a key liaison for parent communication regarding student academic progress, discipline, and school involvement.
- Organize and support logistics for Parent-Teacher Conferences and other family engagement opportunities.
- Collaborate with teachers on weekly advisory topics and ensure timely communication of advisory updates.
- Regularly send newsletters and email updates to families and staff to foster transparency and partnership.
Position Details: Salary is based upon education and experience ranging from $41,000 - $78,000/year. Certificated staff receive 12-month pro-rated salary and are designated as overtime-exempt employees.
The school year work calendar for this role is 183 working days, 7.5 hours per day. Start time is generally 15 minutes before school starts, and end time is generally 30 minutes after release. Schedule flexibility is required for extracurricular event attendance.

Education, Experience, and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field, Master’s degree preferred;
- Valid teaching certificate, administrators credential preferred;
- 5 years of classroom teaching experience, particularly in a Middle School, preferred.
- Ability to interpret policy, procedures, and data.
- Ability to organize tasks and manage time to meet varied deadlines.
- Skilled at communicating effectively with students, parents, school administrators and other staff, including the ability to discuss topics which may be sensitive.
- Working familiarity with school technologies; internet and email systems; Google Suite; and word processing, presentation, and spreadsheet software.
- Ability to develop and manage programs and budgets.
- The candidate selected for this position will be required to pass a background check.
