What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pastry Cook position at Kingsmill Resort?
Overview: Pastry Cooks are responsible for the production and preparation of baked goods, frozen desserts, occasion cakes and showpieces for the F&B outlets and banquets. There are multiple levels for this position with varying job duties based on skills and abilities. Kingsmill Resort is located on the James River in Williamsburg, VA. The company provides uniforms. Black non-skid shoes and black or white socks must be worn. Currently we are seeking a morning Baker working 3 AM to 11 AM shift.
Responsibilities:
- Morning shift takes pastries/breads out of freezer and arranges them on trays for breakfast.
- Produces pastry and baked items as established on production charts or requested by guests
- Decorates and finishes products
- Sets up and creative displays of products on buffets
- Sets up, manning and maintains dessert station for a la carte service
- Designs and decorates special occasion and wedding cakes
- Participates in producing pastry showpieces
- Assists in creation of menu design
- Maintains established par levels
- Maintains thorough cleanliness and a high level of sanitation at all times
- Participates in daily ordering
- Maintain positive communication and teamwork with all co-workers and supervisors.
- Maintain a professional manner with the awareness that all actions and communications are within others view.
- Maintains appearance and uniform standards.
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Must be 18 years of age
- Ability to read and follow recipes
- Ability to demonstrate skills in any aspect of the duties and responsibilities area
- Ability to work all shifts and stations within the pastry shop
- Possess good decorating skills
- Possess knowledge of basic and advanced baking techniques
- Food Handler Card required (or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire)
- Ability to lift, push, pull, carry a minimum of 25 pounds, stand for 8-10 hours in a hot environment
- Ability to work without supervision
- Possess good organizational and communication skills
- Possess good math skills
- Ability to multi-task
- Formal schooling, apprenticeship or proven track record in a similar environment
- Degree in pastry/baking or a verifiable track record in a similar operation
- Ability to work days, nights, weekends, holidays
