Shift: DAYS, Monday - Friday, 7:00am - 3:00pm (overtime required as needed)

We are looking for a Chemical Lab Technician for our Mattoon, IL Plant!
Essential Duties:
- Maintains inventory of chemical components necessary for daily production demands. This includes ordering, transferring/offloading, and delivering chemicals to production lines.
- Coordinates with production department on chemical inventory and orders needed consumables.
- Tests incoming chemicals & post cure samples for quality as per divisional SOPs and files test results and chemical delivery records.
- Prepares and tests blends following divisional guidelines and report any inconsistencies to site Chemical Engineer.
- Uses forklift to transfer totes, pallets, or drums to line to supply or replenish material.
- Assists production line on chemical & process equipment related issues.
- Handles hazardous chemicals and wastes in compliance with environmental guidelines.
- Maintains a clean and safe work environment.
- Performs Quality Control analysis online samples and ensure proper record keeping on reports are done on all tests.
- Assists Chemical Process Engineer in new product development efforts and product/material testing.

Education/Experience:
- Degree in Chemical Sciences/Mechanical technology program preferred, not required.
- At least High School diploma or general education degree (GED).
- 2-3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience operating a forklift. A valid forklift operator license is an asset.
Computer Skills:
- Must be proficient in all Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook with the aptitude to be trained in other computer software programs.
Other Skills and Requirements:
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret data.
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

- You will be in the lab as well as on the production floor. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts, loud machines, heat inside the factory and will be close to chemicals.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
- The employee must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
