Summary Description

This position assists the company production efforts by performing the following general duties.

Essential Duties

Essential duties are interpreted as being descriptive and not restrictive in nature. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Comply with all company policies including safety regulations, personal protective equipment requirements, standard operating procedures, work instructions, quality system procedures, and good manufacturing practices.
  • Review work orders, blueprints, specifications, or job samples to determine components, settings, and adjustments for cutting and trimming.
  • Set up, operate, or tend trim line machine that cuts or trims insulating material meeting quality and production goals with minimal supervision.
  • Type instructions on computer keyboards, push buttons to activate computer programs, or manually set cutting guides to ensure that the required length, density and product matches the work order.
  • Examine and measure products to verify conformance to specifications, using measuring devices such as rulers and digital calipers.
  • Efficiently stack, sort, box and package cut material for shipping.
  • Press buttons, pull levers, or depress pedals to start and operate cutting and slicing machines.
  • Adjust machine controls to alter position, alignment, speed, or pressure.
  • Monitor operation of cutting or slicing machines to detect malfunctions or to determine whether supplies need replenishment.
  • Communicate equipment malfunctions, quality or work order discrepancies immediately.
  • Record work product output on work orders (e.g. quantities, types, and dimensions of materials cut).
  • Operate a forklift.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily, and pass a fit for duty physical examination, respiratory examination, hearing screening, drug screening and criminal background check.

Education And/or Experience

Employee must have a high school diploma or GED. Some previous work-related skill, knowledge, and experience is needed.

English language proficiency is a must. Ability to read, speak, write and interpret documents such as work orders, picking sheets, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Computer Skills

Incumbent must demonstrate competency in basic computer skills. Must be able to navigate through window screens, create, open, save, upload, attach files and use electronic mail functions.

Mathematical Skills

Employee must have good math skills and demonstrate the ability to use measuring devices appropriately and precisely, including the use of a measuring tape and digital caliper. Must demonstrate ability to convert fractions to decimals.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Employee must have the ability to deal with problems involving variables in any situation.

Certificates, Licenses, Registration

Employee must successfully pass OSHA 10-hour safety and health training, forklift training and job assessments.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is required to stand; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must lift and/or move up to 75 pounds on a regular basis throughout a day. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. The employee is frequently required to interact with other employees. The employee is directly responsible for the safety, well being and work out-put he/she is entrusted with.
