We are currently seeking an IT Systems & Applications programmer who will be responsible for managing and optimizing the organization’s IT infrastructure while also developing, maintaining, and supporting business applications. This role ensures that KLAW’s IT systems are stable, secure, and performant while integrating applications seamlessly into infrastructure.
This position requires a hands-on, proactive individual who can manage technical support, infrastructure, and application-level tasks while contributing to broader IT initiatives. The ideal candidate will take ownership of their responsibilities while working within the larger North American IT team to ensure business applications and IT services effectively support the organization’s needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Infrastructure & IT Management:
- Deploy and maintain IT infrastructure, including servers, storage, networking, and cloud resources.
- Administer virtualized environments (VMware) and cloud infrastructure (Azure) for seamless application integration.
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure uptime for critical IT services.
- Maintain and enforce security best practices (firewalls, VPNs, encryption, Active Directory).
- Manage backup and disaster recovery plans to ensure data integrity and business continuity.
- Maintain IT asset inventory, server rooms, and ensure asset replenishment follows divisional policies.
- Assist in external and internal IT audits and compliance initiatives.
- Provide escalated IT support for business-critical systems and infrastructure issues.
Application Development & Support:
- Develop, customize, and maintain enterprise business applications using relevant ERP programming languages (C-Sharp).
- Troubleshoot, optimize, and support applications to enhance performance, scalability, and user experience.
- Manage API integrations and web services, ensuring applications interface smoothly with backend systems (databases, cloud services).
- Support database management and integration, ensuring efficient SQL-based queries and reporting.
- Work with internal teams to gather business requirements and enhance existing applications to improve workflows.
- Assist with digitalization initiatives and automation, helping drive IT modernization.
- Provide ongoing application support, addressing issues and implementing solutions based on user feedback.
Collaboration & Project Management:
- Work with business stakeholders to ensure IT systems align with operational needs.
- Support project planning for both infrastructure and application development, ensuring deadlines are met.
- Document system configurations, application development workflows, and IT processes.
- Train and support internal users to maximize the value of IT systems and business applications.
Qualifications & Experience:
Essential:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 2-5 years of hands-on experience in IT support, infrastructure, and application management.
- Experience with ERP-related programming languages, such as C#, 4GL, Baan 4GL, or similar scripting languages used for Epicor and Autodesk integrations.
- Strong troubleshooting experience across server, cloud, and network environments.
- Proficiency in Active Directory, Group Policy, and Office 365 administration.
- Knowledge of SQL queries and data modeling.
- Experience with API troubleshooting and integration for enterprise applications.
- Familiarity with virtualization platforms (VMware).
- Working knowledge of cloud computing concepts (Azure, Microsoft 365).
- Understanding of IT security best practices.
- Strong documentation skills and ability to clearly communicate technical concepts.
Desirable:
- Relevant technical certifications (Microsoft, VMware, Azure).
- Experience with ERP systems (Epicor, Infor LN a plus).
- Scripting/automation experience (4GL scripting, PowerShell, VBScript, etc.).
- Experience supporting API integrations and cloud-based applications.
- Basic networking troubleshooting for Palo Alto and Meraki.
- Office 365 migration experience.
