Job Overview
The Advancement Assistant contributes to a positive transformative guest experience as they work alongside the Director of Development and Marketing in stewarding philanthropic partners to achieve organizational objectives and operational needs. The Assistant aids in the cultivation of relationships with members, donors, sponsors, and community partners that advance and strengthen connections to the mission and vision of Kingwood Center Gardens.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Manages Kingwood’s membership program: processing payments, renewals, correspondence, bulk mailings, and distribution of member benefits
· Assists with membership and donor analytics and retention efforts
· Maintains an accurate, efficient and current database of all prospects, donors, constituents and members
· Coordinates the processing, acknowledging and tracking of all contributions (i.e. capital campaigns, general, sponsors, in kind), pledges, donations, planned gifts, bequests, tribute gifts, and in kind
· Provides direct customer service to members, sponsors, and community partners
· Completes analyses and reports regarding, but not limited to, campaign effectiveness, membership strategies, customer and donor feedback, trends
· Leads in content creation for Kingwood Newsletter
· Assists with the development of Kingwood Newsletter content strategy
· Assists with the creation of annual sponsorship packets, tracking payments and acknowledgements, helps ensure benefit fulfillment and distribution
· Assists at times with sponsor recruitment
· Aides in the planning and facilitation of member and donor events
· Pursues on-going training to advance skill proficiency and awareness of trends and relevant best practices
· All other duties as assigned
Requirements
· Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, or holidays as needed
· Prolonged periods of continuous standing, sitting, or walking along with occasional stooping, bending, and reaching
· Possesses strong leadership skills
· Possesses professional verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills, including effective presentation and problems solving skills
· Demonstrated analytical and creative problem-solving skills
· Must be goal-oriented, flexible, and adaptable to potential unanticipated opportunities
· Ability to prioritize work amongst competing set of tasks
· Must be able to organize workflows to ensure necessary details are captured and enacted
· Ability to relate to and work with people of all ages, diverse backgrounds, skills and abilities
· Ability to work with diverse staff and volunteers
· Ability to collaborate across departments and provide support as required
· Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, Altru or similar membership database software
Qualifications
· A minimum of an Associate’s degree and/or certificate in not-for-profit development, fundraising, communications, business administration or related field required
· A minimum of 3 years of demonstrated experience in communications, data entry, or customer service preferred
· Must have a valid Ohio Driver’s License
· Must pass a background check
· Must pass drug test
