Job Description
As a High School Pre-Apprentice Welder, you will have the opportunity to learn and develop foundational welding skills while working alongside experienced professionals. This position is designed for students who are interested in pursuing a career in welding and are eager to gain practical experience in a real-world setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with various welding tasks under the guidance of experienced welders.
- Learn and practice basic welding techniques in MIG welding and fabrication.
- Prepare materials for welding, including cutting, grinding, and fitting.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to all safety protocols.
- Follow instructions and perform tasks as assigned by mentors.
- Currently enrolled in high school with the successful completion of the two following classes:
- Oxy Fuel & Plasma
- GMAW I
- Complete Pre-Apprenticeship Application for Enrollment through SCC
- Basic understanding of math and mechanical principles.
- Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively in a team environment.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and a positive attitude.
- Safety-conscious and committed to adhering to safety guidelines.
- Previous experience in a shop or hands-on environment is a plus but not required.
- Familiarity with basic tools and equipment used in welding is beneficial.
- Hands-on experience in a professional welding environment.
