The Manh Choh Project is a greenfield gold deposit in eastern Alaska being developed with ore being hauled to Kinross’ Fort Knox mine north of Fairbanks for processing. The mine site is located in the Tetlin Hills, approximately 250 miles southeast of Fort Knox and 10 miles southeast of Tok. Production is expected to begin in 2024.
Job Description
Deliver high-quality human resources services by providing services to all Manh Choh employees to assure fair and equitable treatment in the administration of all Human Resources programs and processes, including recruiting, benefits administration, training, and employee relations, while continuously aligning daily functions to reflect Kinross’ values.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead recruitment and relocation efforts for a start-up project near Tok, Alaska. Assist with workforce development initiatives and participate in statewide workforce planning groups and committees.
- Provide excellent customer service to employees, job seekers, stakeholders and community members.
- Assist with the administration of benefits and assure full communication with the department and employees.
- Apply fair and consistent practices across all levels of the site with regards to guidebook policies, practices and standards.
- Administration of leave of absence programs including FMLA, military, and personal.
- Conduct exit interviews, analyze data, and make recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Conduct corrective action meetings with employees as needed.
- Respond to employee relation issues such as employee complaints and harassment allegations. May conduct investigations in support of this area.
- Represent the company for any unemployment claims.
- Facilitate and/or provide training (including orientation if needed) to the workforce.
- Lead department projects.
- Coordinate travel arrangements for interviews and initiate relocation as needed.
- Maintain Human Resource Information System (HRIS) records and compile reports from database. Audit the HRIS on a routine basis.
- Maintain accurate records and files.
- Meet or exceed established performance expectations set by management.
- Consistent exercise of discretion and judgment in job performance.
- Punctuality and regular attendance are required.
- Compliance with all company policies and procedures including, but not limited to safety, confidentiality and environmental policies.
- Work without significant risk of harm to self and others.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of three to five years in the Human Resources field required.
- College degree or courses with HR related focus preferred.
- Professional in Human Resources (PHR or SHRM-CP) certification preferred.
- Solid understanding of COBRA, ERISA, FMLA, and related state and federal regulations required.
- The incumbent must have a demonstrated ability to establish priorities and maintain deadlines under multiple time pressures.
- Must possess the ability to work accurately and efficiently with a minimum amount of direct supervision.
- Accuracy is essential in the handling of all HR tasks and processes.
- Possesses good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Personal leadership skills required.
- Strong working knowledge and skill with computers utilizing Microsoft Office.
- Uncompromising commitment to service and confidentiality.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license.
- Ability to function within the qualifications outlined in the attached physical demands sheets.
