SUMMARY OF POSITION
Kinsley is seeking experienced Pipe Foremen, Track Hoe Operators, and Pipelayers to join our growing Civil site pipe crews based in North East, MD. These roles focus on underground utility projects, including water, sanitary sewer, and storm sewer installations. Successful candidates should have a minimum of 2 years of experience in their respective roles, a strong understanding of underground utility installation, trenching regulations, and pipeline safety, a willingness to learn, a strong work ethic, and a positive attitude.
TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
PIPE FOREMAN
- Effectively lead, manage, and motivate crews of 5 to 10 individuals
- Supervise the installation of new pipes in trench for storm or sanitation sewers, drains, and water mains
- Successfully manage and schedule subcontractors
- Interpret blueprints, project plans, and specifications
- Plan and schedule for necessary manpower, tools, materials, and equipment needed to complete the job
- Responsible for completing daily timesheets and maintaining daily logs
- Job Site Hazard Recognition and Safety Compliance
- Equipment Maintenance and Operation as needed.
- Perform other related duties as required.
TRACK HOE OPERATOR
- Excavate trenches for mainline utilities such as water, sanitary sewer, and storm sewer systems.
- Backfill trenches, load materials, and manage trench boxes as needed.
- Operate equipment safely in accordance with company policies and OSHA standards.
- Perform regular maintenance on equipment, including greasing and checking fluids, to ensure optimal operation.
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of underground utilities.
- Carry out other related duties as required to complete project tasks.
PIPELAYER
- Install new pipes for storm or sanitation sewers, drains, and water mains in prepared trenches.
- Ensure pipes are aligned properly and positioned on grade and on line.
- Assist with backfilling and operate compaction equipment as needed.
- Recognize and mitigate job site hazards.
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as needed to support the crew.
REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum of 5 years of field leadership experience required for Pipe Foreman.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience required for Equipment Operators.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience operating track hoes; prior experience with backhoes and excavators preferred.
- Must possess knowledge of GPS systems.
- Strong understanding of underground utility installation, excavation regulations, and pipeline safety.
- Ability to follow and enforce all correct safety procedures.
- Must be able to work in a crew-based, fast-paced environment while also being capable of working independently.
- Punctuality, dependability, and a strong work ethic are required.
- Must perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, climbing, balancing, walking, and material handling, often in unfavorable weather conditions.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required.
- Must pass DOT pre-employment physical and drug/alcohol screening.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
