Summary of Position
The Medical Assistant Float reports to the Director of Nursing and is responsible for providing high-quality, competent care across all sites in the organization. Float Medical Assistants understand and implement patient care according to organization policy/procedure. The Medical Assistant Float role will require flexibility and strong communication and may involve innovative working atmospheres to meet patient needs. The Medical Assistant Float must demonstrate sound clinical skills and perform without direction. The Medical Assistant Float will be required to complete organizational competency to validate clinical/communication skills and complete organizational Medication Administration validation.

Responsibilities
- Obtaining and recording patient medical histories, vitals, test results, and other information for medical records while maintaining strict confidentiality.
- Coordinating the daily administrative activities, including scheduling, patient check-in and checkout, and patient medical record maintenance.
- Preparing treatment rooms for clinical examinations and assisting practitioners with medical procedures and other patient care.
- Delivering compassionate support, attention, and assistance to patients and families.
- Ensuring compliance with all health care regulations, including HIPAA and OSHA.
- Preparing and administering medications for patients as directed by physicians.
- Other tasks assigned by the supervisor.
Certification(s)/Licensure: Certified Medical Assistant or Registered Medical Assistant and Basic Life Support, Mental Health First Aid
Required Experience: 2 years of experience functioning as a Certified Medical Assistant or Registered Medical Assistant
Physical Demands
- Able to sit, stand, kneel, crouch and/or walk for extended periods
- Able to lift 40-50lbs
- Intact/supported medically manual dexterity, auditor, and visual sensory skills
- It may require working outdoors and/or within mobile units
