What are the responsibilities and job description for the Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) Instructor position at KIPP Capital Region Public Schools?
POSITION OVERVIEW
The CPI Instructor is responsible for delivering comprehensive training in the Crisis Prevention Institute’s (CPI) techniques and methodologies, preparing professionals across various fields to manage crisis situations effectively, and equipping participants with the skills to intervene in crisis intervention scenarios and foster a safer environment within the organizations.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct in-depth CPI Instructor Training courses and specialized sessions, including Nonviolent Crisis Intervention®, Trauma-Informed Care, and Workplace Violence Awareness.
Deliver interactive and engaging training sessions utilizing multimedia instructional methods to enhance the learning experience.
Customize training content to meet the unique needs of different organizations based on their specific challenges related to crisis prevention and intervention.
Develop clear, concise instructional materials and resources that align with CPI methodologies.
Provide continuous support and resources to participants post-training to reinforce learning and applying CPI techniques.
Monitor participant performance and progress to ensure certification, understanding, renewal requirements, and course material retention.
Develop and implement engaging training sessions that incorporate interactive and multimedia instructional methods.
Conduct quality assurance audits to evaluate the effectiveness of training sessions and provide constructive feedback for instructor improvement.
Document course delivery details, participant attendance, and successful completions to comply with CPI certification standards.
Strong knowledge of CPI principles, methods, and techniques for preventing and managing crises.
Proficiency in adult education principles, with the ability to engage and motivate participants using various instructional methods.
Ability to assess situations quickly and develop effective strategies for crisis resolution and participant engagement.
Understanding the diverse backgrounds of participants and responding compassionately to their specific needs and concerns.
Strong ability to manage multiple training sessions, maintain accurate documentation, and ensure timely responses to participant inquiries.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited College or University in education, psychology, social work, healthcare, or a related field is preferred, or graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma is required.
Previous experience in teaching, training, or facilitating adult education programs.
Certification in CPI’s Instructor Training is required, and completion of additional CPI courses will be an ongoing organizational requirement.
Proven experience in crisis management, education, social services, healthcare, or law enforcement is preferred.
Ongoing professional development in crisis intervention methodologies and adult education strategies.
Experience working directly with students, preferably in the charter, private, or public school environment.
Prior experience working in schools and urban communities is preferred but not required.
Ability to work a flexible schedule outside of regular business hours.
Aptitude to create and work within an inclusive environment that honors and supports a diversity of backgrounds and perspectives.
