POSITION OVERVIEW
The Director of Human Resources partners with the Chief People Officer (CPO) to develop, implement, and drive key human resource initiatives across the organization at the School and Regional levels.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Under the direction of the Chief People Officer (CPO), performs HR leadership duties related to Employee Relations, Organizational Development, and HR Operations.
- Manages the day-to-day activities of the HR direct reports, ensuring focus, efficiency, quality, and on-time results.
- Support the Chief People Officer (CPO) as a trusted advisor, serving as a designee on behalf of the Chief People Officer (CPO) where appropriate, and work collaboratively with school and regional leaders to promote and integrate known HR best practices and execute and scale the Region’s HR strategy.
- Mentor and coach HR Team to foster engagement, ensure professional development opportunities, and align the HR team and individual goals with top KIPP CAP organization and HR priorities.
- Responsible for the performance management lifecycle logistics, including but not limited to establishing oversight of the HRIS system, organizational performance practices, timelines, draft communications, assisting in presenting applicable training, appraisal reviews, tracking, and follow-up, as well as employee performance issues.
- Leads HR data management, system maintenance, auditing the integrity of the data, ensuring record retention, and being the gatekeeper for all HR employee system transactions, as well as entering accurate/consistent data in the HR systems with precise documentation that supports all changes to optimize KIPP CAP’s record-keeping practices.
- Oversees, administers, and coordinates all aspects of leaves, maintaining compliance with KIPP CAP policies and federal and state leave regulations, all while providing guidance and excellent customer service to employees and leaders and working closely with the HR team to ensure leaves are appropriately administered, documented and reporting requirements are solid.
- Work across the HR team to identify and pursue opportunities to streamline processes, leverage the full power of automated tools, update policies, and creatively update benefits, recognition, and retention programs focusing on the highest-value activities and striving to remain competitive in a tight labor market.
- Serves as a partner to KIPP CAP Leaders, alongside the Chief People Officer (CPO), providing strategic HR guidance on processes and policies, creating and project managing HR timelines, and ensuring that all HR systems and practices are processed, streamlined, timely, and accurate.
- Assist with employee relations and disciplinary issues, coach and counsel leaders and staff as needed, consult with legal counsel when appropriate, and manage terminations.
- Provide collaborative leadership, facilitation, and implementation of key initiatives to advance Human Resource strategies with School and Regional Leaders.
- Work closely with various internal and external stakeholders to further operationalize human resource practices and contribute to strategies that drive desired outcomes.
- Supports the Chief People Officer (CPO) in designing equitable organizational-wide HR guidelines, practices, and policies.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of HR-related regulatory requirements and learning and development initiatives, specifically providing expertise to support the mission of KIPP CAP.
- Work in partnership with the HR Team, School, and Regional Leaders to prepare and execute surveys, complete HR audits, and build related reports.
- Monitor performance metrics and mechanisms to track needs, trends, the effectiveness of policies and programs, and progress toward accomplishing objectives.
- Evaluate qualitative feedback, quantitative data, and observations regularly to inform strategy, decision-making, and accountability.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited College or University is required.
- 3 Years of experience in leadership roles, with focused responsibility for leading and managing Human Resource goals and initiatives.
- Experience working collaboratively with various departments in a fast-paced, growing environment across functional teams with multiple stakeholders.
- Ability to identify ways to evolve our Human Resource practices by staying current with the latest trends and providing recommendations and insights based on industry best practices.
- Mid-level to advanced knowledge of all Microsoft Office Applications, working knowledge of Google Applications, UKG HRIS, LMS, and various HR applications.
- Understanding of working directly with students, preferably required in the charter, private, or public school environment.
- Prior experience working in schools and urban communities is preferred but not required.

Salaries are determined using an equitable compensation scale that accounts for years of experience relevant to the role and longevity within the KIPP network. KIPP Capital Region will evaluate and determine the step/level a new hire will be placed within our grade salary scale at point of hire.
