Job Description
Purpose and Scope
Supervises the day to day operations of the Summer Boost site to ensure quality instruction and the safety of the staff and students. Communicates behavior expectations and consequences of action to staff, students and parents. Administers discipline when necessary to correct disruptive behavior. Oversees the opening and closing of Summer Boost sites. Ensures compliance with all state, network, and Summer Boost policies and procedures. Ensures all state and network documents are submitted on time.
Summer Boost 2025:
- Staff PD: Tuesday June 3, 2025 & Thursday, June 5, 2025 (All Math Educators)
- Staff PD: Wednesday June 4, 2025 & Thursday, June 5, 2025 (All Literacy Educators)
- All Staff Room Set up and Meeting: June 9, 2025 (9am-1pm)
- Summer Boost Dates: Tuesday June 10, 2025, to Friday July 11, 2025
- No School on: June 19 (Juneteenth), July 4 (Independence Day)
- Daily Hours: 8:00am to 3:00pm
- Location: KIPP Memphis Collegiate Elementary/Middle (230 Henry Avenue)
- Grades: Rising 1st through 8th graders
- Hourly Rate: $85/hr
Essential Job Functions:
- Supervises the day to day operations of the Summer Boost site.
- Complies with all state, network, and Summer Boost policies and procedures. Submits all required state and network documents.
- Collaborates with host school administration on facilities use including room assignments, administrative space, copier availability, teachers’ lounge, off-limits areas and building cleanliness. Ensures availability of instruction resources including textbooks, calculators, paper, binders and pens.
- Monitors email and ensures cell phone connectivity daily to be in contact with network staff and the management over Summer Boost for issues, updates and urgent communication.
- Assigns teachers to equitably distribute students. Reviews and practices the local Emergency Management Plan. Develops procedures to secure all assets and host school resources emphasizing control of and liability for assets. Coordinates with host school administration for lockable storage space for the staff’s personal items.
- Conducts staff orientation prior to the opening of Summer Boost. Ensures that staff contracts are accurate. Ensures that the staff understands that Summer Boost operations are conducted ONLY in specified areas of the host site and that existing technology can ONLY be used IF approved by the host school principal and the management over Summer Boost. Otherwise, the staff member will be personally financially responsible for any loss or damage that occurs.
- Establishes and monitors protocols for acceptable student dress, for restroom facilities, for adequate supervision and safety precautions for student arrival or departure, for non-classroom staff assignments to security checks and waiting areas, for ensuring adequate supervision of all areas where students gather and for ensuring that the staff follows security procedures for visitors.
- Ensures students are accurately enrolled in the proper classes. Verifies teacher and student rosters and assignments.
- Arrives at site daily at least 30 minutes early. Ensures site is open, clean and climate controlled. Institutes back-up plans for relocating classes when necessary. Ensures staff arrives on time and timesheets are accurately completed and submitted to the management over Summer Boost.
- Monitors classroom operations regularly for content delivery, student behavior and to conduct formal and informal classroom observations of teacher performance. Monitors lunch room activities during meal times.
- Applies the KIPP Memphis Code of Conduct and Summer Boost behavior expectations to guide disciplinary actions for disruptive student behavior. Ensures all major offenses are fully documented. Ensures minor disciplinary actions are resolved as quickly as possible to minimize the loss of instructional time.
- At the end of the day, ensures all staff and students have departed and the facilities are secure before leaving 30 minutes or later after school ends.
- Monitors student attendance. Contacts parents to ensure a clear understanding of expectations and consequences of student behavior.
- Ensures teachers accurately compute and submit grades on time, guidance counselors document students who intend to graduate and the list of students completing graduation requirements is validated and provided to the management over Summer Boost.
- Oversees the school closing process when Summer Boost ends. Returns all supplies to the proper sites.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or directed.
Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education or a closely related field plus a minimum of four (4) years of teaching or training experience, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and/or paid, exempt level directly relevant experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this position for a total of eight (8) years.
- Commitment for the entire period of summer school including all training dates outlined
- Availability for summer school closeout operations which may occur after the new academic year contract has started.
- This position is for SUMMER BOOST ONLY.
- Bachelor’s Degree = 4 years plus required years of experience.
- Master’s Degree = 6 years plus required years of experience.

Additional Information:
- Hourly Rate: $85/hr.
Other Qualifications:
Satisfactory criminal records check, pre-hire and annually thereafter, if applicable. Must be eligible to work in the United States and provide work authorization. Occasional travel to KIPP Memphis campuses may be required.
ADA Requirements:
Physical Demands: Requires sedentary work involving standing or walking for brief periods, exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular basis; and some dexterity in operating office equipment; must be able to use hands and fingers
