Job Description
Elective Teacher (Journalism, Choir, Band, Art, Photography, Theatre, Fine Arts)
At KIPP Tulsa, we are seeking a creative and dynamic Elective Teacher to inspire and challenge scholars in one or more of the following areas: Journalism, Choir, Band, Art, Photography, Theatre, or Fine Arts. The ideal candidate will foster a passion for creative expression, critical thinking, and innovation while maintaining high expectations for academic and artistic excellence.
Instructional Delivery and Assessment
Develop year-long, Oklahoma standards-based unit plans and lesson plans that integrate elective content with core academic principles, ensuring a comprehensive educational experience for all scholars.
Design and implement student-centered, engaging lessons that emphasize creativity, hands-on exploration, and the development of practical skills relevant to the elective area.
Utilize diverse assessment methods, including portfolios, performance assessments, projects, and formative evaluations, to adapt short- and long-term instructional plans that promote academic and creative success.
Integrate technology, multimedia resources, and real-world applications to enhance learning experiences and foster a deeper understanding of the subject matter.
Embrace and incorporate feedback in the spirit of continuous improvement and professional growth.
Academic and Cultural Support
Collaborate with content and grade-level teams to create an environment that nurtures academic rigor, artistic exploration, and cultural awareness.
Establish and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with scholars and families to support both academic and creative growth.
Actively participate in the daily functions of the school, including morning, lunch, and afternoon supervisory duties.
Engage in school-wide events such as staff meetings, open houses, back-to-school nights, parent orientations, parent-teacher conferences, PTO events, and various cultural or performance-related events.
Develop individualized learning plans for scholars requiring additional support and clearly communicate these plans to families during parent meetings and conferences.
Uphold professional responsibilities, including timeliness, consistency in meeting deadlines, and adherence to school policies and expectations.
Willing to support and lead extracurricular activities.

Qualifications
Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in specialized area from an accredited four-year college or university
- Valid Oklahoma Teaching Certificate with required certification for subject and level assigned, if applicable*
- Demonstrated knowledge of the core subject area assigned
- Satisfactory outcome of a background check. Employees are responsible for a non-refundable fingerprinting fee (approximately $60).
*Applicants currently pursuing a certification may apply before certification is received. All certifications must be acquired and on file with KIPP Tulsa before the end of the first year of employment. *

Compensation and Benefits:
This is a Full-Time, 10-month teaching position.
Employees are eligible to participate in employer benefits including health, dental, life, accidental death and dismemberment, short and long term disability and participation in Oklahoma Teacher Retirement plans.
