Job Description
High School Physical Education Teacher
At KIPP Tulsa, we are seeking a passionate and energetic High School Physical Education (PE) Teacher who is committed to promoting physical wellness, teamwork, and lifelong healthy habits. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong classroom management, a passion for fitness and sports, and the desire and ability to grow and strengthen extracurricular athletic programs at the high school level.
This teacher will work collaboratively with school leaders, coaches, and other staff to build a strong athletic culture that supports scholar growth on and off the field.
Instructional Delivery and Assessment
Develop year-long, standards-based unit plans and lesson plans aligned with the Oklahoma Academic Standards for Physical Education to meet the diverse physical and developmental needs of all scholars.
Design and implement engaging, inclusive, and physically challenging lessons that promote fitness, sportsmanship, and teamwork.
Use formal and informal assessments to monitor scholar progress, guide instruction, and support growth in physical fitness and personal responsibility.
Implement strong classroom and gymnasium management strategies to maintain a safe, structured, and positive learning environment.
Embrace and incorporate feedback in the spirit of continuous improvement and professional development.
Athletics and Extracurricular Development
Demonstrate the desire and skill to establish, lead, or expand extracurricular athletic programs, including after-school sports teams, intramurals, or fitness clubs.
Collaborate with school leaders, coaches, and staff to identify opportunities for new athletic offerings and ensure scholar access to competitive and developmental experiences.
Serve as a positive role model for scholars, encouraging participation in athletics as a means of character development, teamwork, and personal growth.
Support scholar-athletes in balancing academic responsibilities with extracurricular commitments.
Academic and Cultural Support
Build and maintain positive, respectful relationships with scholars and families that support physical, social, and academic growth.
Collaborate with grade-level and content teams to promote a school-wide culture of excellence, discipline, and community.
Participate actively in daily school routines, including morning, lunch, and afternoon supervision duties.
Attend and support key school events such as staff meetings, back-to-school nights, parent orientations, family conferences, PTO events, and athletic showcases.
Develop individualized support plans for scholars who need additional structure or motivation and engage families in the implementation of those plans.
Demonstrate professionalism through punctuality, reliability, and consistency in meeting deadlines and upholding school-wide expectations.

Qualifications
Skills and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, or a related field from an accredited four-year college or university
Master’s degree in Physical Education or related field, preferred
Valid Oklahoma Teaching Certificate with required certification in Physical Education for secondary level, if applicable*
Demonstrated knowledge of physical education standards, fitness and health instruction, and athletic development
Experience leading or supporting extracurricular sports or physical activity programs, preferred
Satisfactory outcome of a background check. Employees are responsible for a non-refundable fingerprinting fee (approximately $60)
*Applicants currently pursuing a certification may apply before certification is received. All certifications must be acquired and on file with KIPP Tulsa before the end of the first year of employment. *

Compensation and Benefits:
This is a Full-Time, 10-month teaching position.
Employees are eligible to participate in employer benefits including health, dental, life, accidental death and dismemberment, short and long term disability and participation in Oklahoma Teacher Retirement plans.
