POSITION TITLE: SYEP Facilitator
LOCATION: 625 Castle Hill Avenue, Bronx, NY 10473
SUPERVISOR: SYEP Coordinator
GENERAL FUNCTION: Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club will operate five SYEP contracts serving over 1400 youth. Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club is looking for a facilitator for project-based learning (PBL) experiences for younger youth. The youth will be 14 to 24 years old. The employee recognizes that his/her role requires administrative competence, the ability to work with other team members and the need to perform routine duties for the organization. The responsibility also extends to overall management in the absence of colleagues.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS: Experience in youth work, community outreach, directing others, planning, handling multiple tasks, and managing personalities relevant to facilitation of assignments.
MAJOR DUTIES:
- Manage a virtual and/or in-person classroom with participants over a six-week summer period
- Coordinate and execute meaningful PBL activities that afford participants an opportunity to apply conceptual knowledge to real-world situations
- Plan for a wide range of effective pedagogical approaches in the discipline to engage learners in the learning process.
- Create an engaging learning environment for participants of different cultural, academic, and social diversity to ensure all participants are participating in a safe, constructive manner
- Responsible for administrative tasks as mandated by the funder such as maintaining students' folders, including student follow-up, attendance/payroll, evaluations and assessments.
- Deliver on-line and in-person sessions using synchronous and/or asynchronous approaches.
- Complete the submission of program documents in a timely manner.
- Meet with SYEP supervisory staff and colleag to solicit input, develop schedules and coordinate programming to ensure smooth running programs and overall operation.
- Support facility supervision and new member orientations.
- Maintain complete and accurate records on a daily and weekly basis
- Attend staff meetings.
- Perform other tasks as requested that support the overall functioning of the organization as directed
- Work according to schedule set with the SYEP supervisory staff
Qualifications:
- Must have experience in youth development programs and supervision.
- Bachelor’s degree or in process of completion required
- Experience planning and facilitating via online learning is a plus
- Classroom management experience through teaching or facilitation in a CBO or non-profit
- Proficiency in Microsoft (word, outlook, excel, PowerPoint etc.) and/or google software (Google doc, sheets, slides, classroom, etc.)
