The Crane Shop Service Technician / Mechanic, you'll be working closely with service management and responsible for the timely and effective repairs on various brands of crane equipment. This will include diagnosing, parts ordering, technical report writing, maintaining care of company assets, and proper communication with others. You must perform quality work as efficiently and profitably as possible. This position may require overtime and occasional weekend work.
Crane Shop Service Technician / Mechanic Essential Functions
Communicates and supports the Kirby Smith vision and core values of One Mission, One Team, One Plan, One GoalPerform Shop repairs and maintenance with little or no direct supervisionDiagnose and evaluate problems with equipment; make repairs using established guidelines in accordance with established flat ratesPlans methods and sequence of performing assigned repairsNotify the manager of any additional work required on the unitModel safe work habits and always abide by all safety policies and proceduresKeep rework within established guidelinesOrganize, clean, and maintain a safe work areaContribute to departmental and product line goalsComplete required paperwork efficiently and timelyAttend factory and other training as specified by the supervisorMaintain shop equipment in good working condition and keep it cleanExhibit a professional demeanor with customers, managers, and colleaguesPromote goodwill with customers and exhibit excellent customer relations behaviorsPerform other assignments as requested by the managerConsistent and reliable on-site attendanceCrane Shop Service Technician / Mechanic Minimum Q ualifications
High School Diploma or EquivalentAbility to speak, read, and write in EnglishThree (3) years of continuous experience in diagnosing and repairing cranesAbility to read complex hydraulic and electrical schematicsFurnish and maintain a set of hand tools and any special tools required by the companyAbility to work overtime and work on the weekend when neededPossess and maintain a valid driver's license; CDL if requiredCrane Shop Technician / Mechanic Physical Requirements
Pushing / Pulling / Lifting / Carrying up to 100 pounds without assistancePhysical ability to squat, twist, turn, bend, stoop, climb, and reach overheadMust be able to work in extreme heat or cold and wet, damp, dusty, or windy conditions and tolerate exposure to typical noises, hazardous materials, and fumes / odors associated with the shopPhysical ability to perform maintenance on equipment for extended hours with continual mounting and dismounting throughout the workdayAbility to adhere to personal protective equipment (PPE) policy and maintain individual PPE in a functional conditionThis is considered a Safety-Sensitive position.
