Audiovisual Systems Design Internship
Kirkegaard is seeking current graduate and undergraduate students to spend eight to twelve weeks working virtually, gaining practical, real-world experience in our audiovisual systems design program. Interns are paid hourly and work with all levels of staff on diverse projects, including performing arts spaces. Interns will also receive general exposure to the architectural design and construction process for new and renovation projects in various phases of design.
Responsibilities will vary depending on current projects but may include:
- Assisting staff with audio design, video design, and integrated systems control projects
- Preparing and reviewing drawings, documents, data sets, and other digital design assets
- Analyzing design requirements, data sets, and working collaboratively to help solve complex technical challenges and problems
- Participating in company meetings and industry events

In addition to paying close attention to the application requirements, the ideal candidate will
- Be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in sound/video design, audio engineering, music, theater, broadcast systems engineering, or an IT-related engineering field
- Have an excellent academic record (90th percentile or higher in major; transcripts required)
- Have completed at least two upper-level courses in their major
- Demonstrate solid written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present ideas with clarity
- Have some experience with (or the ability to learn readily) applications such as Revit, Q-SYS Designer, and EASE; experience with Excel, AutoCAD, Dante/NDI networking, Notion, and/or GSuite applications desired
- Be capable of high-level thinking and have an orientation for design and creative problem-solving
- Maintain a flexible and collaborative approach to working on a team
Prior experience in production or design, particularly the implementation of audio/video systems, is preferred, and some experience in the performing arts is highly desired.
