GENERAL JOB SUMMARY :
Under limited supervision, the instructor is responsible for teaching ESL courses to students enrolled in Kirkwood's Secondary Programs. Instruction will take place in Cedar Rapids, though there might be opportunities to teach in Coralville or online if there are also openings at those locations. At times there might be travel to other Kirkwood locations for meetings. The instructor also assists students in transitioning from ESL courses to Kirkwood related work training and higher education opportunities in collaboration with other Kirkwood staff.
Classes are held Monday through Thursday. We are currently hiring for classes that will start March 24, 2025. The session dates include : March 24 to May 8, May 12 to June 5. Morning classes are held from 9 : 00 AM to 11 : 00 AM or 11 : 15 AM 1 : 15 PM. Evening classes are 5 : 30 PM to 7 : 30 PM. Currently there is 1 opening for evening class (5 : 30 PM -7 : 30 PM Monday to Thursday). The total hours per week for one class equates to10 hours, with extra hours being available for team meetings, special projects, and professional development. Ideally onboarding for the position will take place the week of March 10-13, 2025. This will allow enough time for the instructor to complete required training and prep for the upcoming class.
