Description
A Success Coach at Kirtland Community College will work closely with our Student Services Team (Admissions, Advising, Financial Aid, Instruction, Student Life) to provide personalized and proactive service and support to students through comprehensive educational career planning from the point of admission to graduation and transitioning to a career or further education.
The position requires planned contact with students to provide them with guidance and mentoring that will optimize the student experience and, in turn, improve student retention and degree completion.
This position is funded under a four year grant.
Duties
- Engage with students to assure they complete milestones to enrollment (assessment, FAFSA, orientation, advising, registration).
- Engage & support students with a holistic, wrap-around model incorporating non-cognitive assessment, comprehensive educational planning, proactive referral to appropriate resources, timely reminders and other targeted individual and group communications using various methods of communication.
- Promptly act on information from faculty, staff and predictive analytics regarding student academic concerns.
- Encourage and advocate for students persistently.
- Maintain clearly written comprehensive notes & data on students in electronic databases.
- Routinely and effectively engages with students through all reasonably available methods of communication to encourage and ensure academic and career success for students.
- Identifies and monitors students in need of services and support.
- Collaborates with departments to navigate students through orientation, registration, assessment of learning, and referral, and facilitates student engagement in career planning activities.
- Partner to create co-curricular activities for students in conjunction with the program of study.
- Maintain records and submit reports as required by the administration and funding agency.
- Performs other related tasks as required.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :
SUPERVISION - Works under the general supervision of the Vice President of Student Services.
ATTENDANCE - Individuals in this position are expected to be generally available during the normal business hours of the college, and may occasionally be asked to vary their schedule to meet department requirements. May at times require evening and / or weekend activity and travel.
WORKING CONDITIONS - Conditions are generally those of a typical office environment, requiring frequent oral communication with students and college administrators, faculty, and staff. The position must interact with students on a daily basis. The ability to enter event information and retrieve data and written communications in electronic format is essential. The ability to use phones and commuters to communicate with students via voice, text, social media, and email is essential. This position may be called upon not only to plan and direct but to participate in the performance of many of the tasks of the Title III grant, from evaluating system issues to assisting with the installation of complex software. Some visual and physical dexterity is therefore required, including the ability to perform visual identification of equipment, parts, and connections. The individual in this position may from time to time have access to sensitive and highly confidential information and must maintain and enforce strict confidentiality as necessary.
