What are the responsibilities and job description for the Attorney (Data Privacy) position at Kirton McConkie PC?
Kirton McConkie, a large Salt Lake City law firm, has an exciting opportunity for a shareholder to work on data privacy, artificial intelligence, and other international regulatory matters in its International Section.
Qualified candidates should have demonstrated a strong interest in or experience with data privacy issues. Seven to ten years of legal practice and experience with EU GDPR or other international data privacy laws is strongly preferred. Other regulatory, corporate, and international legal experience is helpful but is not required. Law firm experience is preferred.
If selected, the candidate would support Kirton McConkie's senior shareholders in serving clients with international data privacy compliance needs, including by advising on data privacy compliance for international activities, creating data privacy strategies and operational guidelines, supervising associates and paralegals to work with foreign counsel to understand relevant laws and drafting data privacy-related legal documents. The candidate would also be expected to assist with other matters in the International Section as needed in addition to data privacy work, which could include artificial intelligence compliance, preparing other international regulatory matters, and working on cross-border transactions.
Candidates must have excellent academic credentials, demonstrate a commitment to ethics, be highly motivated and hardworking, have high attention to detail, be able to balance multiple projects and supervise a team of junior attorneys and staff, be a responsive team player, and have excellent writing skills. Qualified candidates also will demonstrate excellent communication skills in order to collaborate with other shareholders and have the skill to manage other attorneys and collaborate on challenging legal issues. While an existing book of business is welcome, it is not required, and candidates will be expected to prioritize serving existing clients under the direction of senior shareholders.
Candidates either must be a member of the Utah Bar or be a member of the bar in another state and be willing to become a member of the Utah Bar as soon as possible.
