Job Summary
The Associate Dean, Office of Instruction, provides support and oversight for assigned instructional programs and works collaboratively to identify and implement emerging opportunities relative to new programs, under the direction of the Dean, Office of Instruction. The Associate Dean is responsible for assigned aspects of program success, which may include recruiting, marketing, scheduling, equipping, staffing, funding, program contracts, planning, assessment, activities, accreditation, and compliance. This position is a highly visible educational manager in the college, district high schools, community, and business/industry, related to the areas of responsibility.
Supervisorial Responsibilities: Part-time non-CBA staff

- Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in a team, contributing positively to college operations and working relationships
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills with students, faculty and staff of varied backgrounds
- Ability to apply technological applications to daily work
- Completion of Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in an academic discipline, higher education administration or a related field
- Higher education teaching experience
- Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in a team, contributing positively to college operations and working relationships
- Commitment to civility and collaboration
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills with students, faculty and staff of varied backgrounds
- Ability to apply technological applications to daily work
- A track record of implementing innovative practices and technology to produce quality instruction
- Commitment to equity and success of all students, including traditionally underserved populations
- Experience teaching in a community college setting
- Experience with Competency-Based Education and/or Credit for Prior Learning
- Work is normally performed in a general office environment.
- Work performed requires sensitivity and responsiveness to changing goals, priorities and needs.
- This position requires light physical activity and movement; employee must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and use standard office equipment, including a computer; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person, before groups, and over the telephone or during virtual meetings. Must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects up to 25 pounds with the use of proper equipment. - Assist the Dean, Office of Instruction, with the daily operations of assigned programs in the Office of Instruction
- In consultation with the Dean, Office of Instruction, oversee and participate in the evaluation of the adjunct faculty and improvement of the instruction processes
- Resolve student complaints, problems, and conflicts in assigned programs, working collaboratively with faculty, student services, and other administrators as needed
- Advise the Dean, Office of Instruction, of short-term and long-term impacts of program offerings aligned to the college’s strategic plan
- Work collaboratively with other Divisions and departments to assure schedule alignment for student success and completion
- Work with and enhance partnerships with business/industry to identify emerging skills and hiring trends
- Collect and maintain related records and reports
- Assist the Dean, Office of Instruction, with grant-funded projects
- Coordinate the procurement, maintenance, and distribution of equipment and materials related to the delivery of assigned programs
- Partner with district high school faculty and administrators for development and implementation of Transitional and Dual Credit course offerings
- Research and implement innovative strategies to enhance student learning and success, including innovations in technology, pedagogy, and competency-based education
- Work with faculty members and Director of Curriculum and Program Development to review and revise curricula
- Other duties as assigned
