Summary
Position Title Full-Time Nursing Faculty Job Summary
This position is a full-time faculty role, starting for the Fall 2025 semester. As part of the Nursing department, this faculty member will have the opportunity to teach a variety of college-level nursing course components including theory, laboratory, and clinical experiences. The successful candidate should be able to work with students from a wide range of backgrounds and levels of academic preparedness. Crafting a well-rounded, effective teaching style that utilizes technology and supports diverse student body will be essential for success. The ideal candidate will have experience with maternal and child health. On-campus presence is required; classes and clinical experiences are delivered primarily in a face-to-face format.
Supervisor Responsibilities: This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Understand and convey the essentials of the course content that students should master
- Have experience teaching or training others successfully
- Show strong leadership, organizational, and team-building skills
- Be passionate about associate degree nursing education
- Demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of entry level nursing skills
- Uphold high academic standards while demonstrating equitability and fairness
- Master’s degree or higher in nursing
- Candidates who will graduate with a master’s degree in nursing within a year of starting this position may still apply
- Equivalent of two (2) years’ full-time work in clinical practice
- Current license as an RN in Illinois
- CPR certified
- Current immunizations as required by clinical agencies (including MMR, Varicella, TDAP, Flu, and Covid-19)
- Two (2) years of teaching or training experience
- Strong interpersonal skills and positive energy regarding professional education
- Established ability to work effectively as a team member
- Demonstrated skills in effective communication in English, both spoken and written
- Two (2) years full time work in a maternal health/OB setting
- Teaching experience at a community college
- Experience with electronic medical records
- Familiarity with high and low fidelity simulations to enhance student learning
- Work is normally performed in a classroom environment, with time in labs and hospital and clinical settings.
- Applicants should possess the ability to stand and lecture for extended periods of time as well as stand and perform functions needed as part of clinical rotations.

- Work to ensure quality instruction, including:
- Establishing productive and supportive communication with students
- Preparing the course syllabus following the college-approved format and course content
- Being organized and conducting classes in accordance with the published class schedule
- Evaluating student progress through regularly scheduled assessments and exams
- Promptly returning graded work to students and maintain student grade records
- Maintaining a schedule of required office hours
- Attend regularly scheduled Academic Division and Full-Faculty meetings
- Participate in college committees
- Participate in professional development activities to maintain currency in discipline, as well as college and legislative policies
- Advise students as appropriate
- Consult with adjunct faculty and clinical agencies to organize student and faculty orientations and unit assignments
- Coordinate student learning experiences with clinical agencies/nursing staff
- Initiate incident reports related to students (on-campus and clinical sites)
- Complete student clinical evaluations
- Fulfill all requirements to maintain HLC and ACEN accreditation, as well as ICCB and IBHE legislative requirements
