What are the responsibilities and job description for the Therapeutic Recreation Program Coordinator position at Kishwaukee Special Recreation Association?
Kishwaukee Special Recreation Association (KSRA) has a mission to enrich the lives of people with disabilities through goal-driven diverse recreational opportunities. KSRA is looking to bring a enthusiastic and driven Recreation Therapist to develop and implement these opportunities for our communities. This position will also lead the new adult day program, A.R.I.S.E. which starts up in the fall! This is a great opportunity to make a big impact on many people's lives.
Job Purpose: Create, develop and implement year-round programing for all ages and all abilities. Recruit, hire and train all seasonal staff required to make programs safe and successful. Direct leadership of the adult day program and summer camp programs. Attend various community events to promote KSRA services. Active member of the KSRA team to dream big and make things happen for the communities and individuals served.
Qualification: Graduate from an accredit college or university with a minimum of BA/BS degree is Therapeutic Recreation, Parks and Recreation, or related field of study. Must have knowledge of and ability to confidently work effectively with individuals with disabilities. Certification through National Council on Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC) or Certified Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP) or the ability to obtain certification within allotted time. Must have a minimum of one year experience with children and adults with disabilities.
