What are the responsibilities and job description for the Utility Worker position at Kissimmee Utility Authority?
Performs various building and ground maintenance work as required. Skilled work in one or more of the trades, which includes maintenance and repair of equipment and structures. Employee should have knowledge and skills in one or more of the building trades. The operation of a company vehicle is required. Performs maintenance and various labor tasks as assigned. Work is performed under assigned supervision.
Performs facility remodeling, repair, and maintenance duties using skills that include carpentry, drywall, painting, plumbing, lighting, and HVAC. Performs landscaping duties that include mowing, weeding, edging, trimming, pruning, and irrigation. Maintains records and files on building and ground maintenance. Monitors and oversees contractors for maintenance contracted service compliance. Monitors and maintains related grounds and building maintenance equipment. Performs general housekeeping duties as required. Operates tractors, trucks, pumps and other job related equipment. Hauls and tows items to various locations. Assist other craft as needed in the operation and maintenance of power generation and auxiliary equipment in the power generation facility. Assists with the set-up, operation and teardown of KUA special events. May assist in making deliveries and assisting in maintenance at various locations. Exercises safety precautions and participates in the promotion of a safety conscious workplace, by example. Performs other duties as required.
Knowledge of the skills, tools and equipment used in general building and ground maintenance. Knowledge of occupational hazards and practiced safety precautions for related job task. Basic knowledge on Outlook and other Microsoft Office products. Physical ability to perform manual labor in and outside. Ability to follow and give work instructions. Ability to understand and oversee building and grounds maintenance contracts. Must be able to communicate effectively with employees and vendors. Ability to operate various equipment related to building and grounds maintenance. Ability to operate vehicles in both hauling and towing modes. Must be able to work on ladders and lifts at heights in excess of 10 feet. Must be able to do heavy lifting up to 100 pounds.
High school graduate/GED. Knowledge of hand and power tool use. Experience with general building and ground maintenance. Experience required in building maintenance and repair in one or more of the trades, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Ability to operate vehicles and various office equipment.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of a valid driver's license issued by the State of Florida.
