Position Summary:
Responsible for repairing, servicing, and maintaining fire protection equipment including portable fire extinguishers, spray booth and pre-engineered fire suppression systems, emergency lighting, and fire hoses in accordance with fire (NFPA) guidelines.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide preventive maintenance inspections and servicing using hand tools and testing equipment fire prevention equipment such as fire extinguishers, emergency lighting and suppression systems.
- Perform functional and operational tests on fire protection equipment for commercial properties.
- Inspect, repair, and replace fire extinguishers and emergency lights.
- Provide on-site emergency troubleshooting of fire suppression systems.
- Replace defective sections of hoses.
- Travel required daily to different commercial properties to inspect, test, service and or repair fire preventive equipment.
- Complete and accurately record required information onto system inspection and field reports utilizing tablets.
- Document deficiencies at the customer level and notify appropriate persons responsible for non-conformance issues.
- Evaluate customer's site for additional equipment and services that customers may require.
- High standards customer service.
- Maintain company vehicles, tools, and appropriate inventory levels for jobs.
- Work in compliance with the company's safety program.
- Capability to identify or willingness to learn and understand fire (NFPA) Codes
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Experience preferred – training provided for entry-level, motivated individuals looking to make a career change.
- Comfortable with heights and working on ladders or lifts.
- Basic knowledge of meters, and hand tools, including electric and battery-powered equipment.
- Ability to read and comprehend appropriate or willing to learn NFPA Codes.
- Willingness to work occasional overtime including, weekends, holidays, and on-call rotation.
- A collaborator with basic problem-solving, organization, customer service, communication, and follow-through abilities.
- Must have a valid driver’s license with limited violations.
- Qualified applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States.
- Must have good customer-facing and customer service skills.
