Job Summary
Kistler O’Brien Fire Protection is seeking a Fire Sprinkler Systems Installation Technician with Layout, Installation, and Servicing Experience. This position will work closely with the Project Management Team and customers to deliver a seamless installation and commissioning of the Fire Sprinkler System. Responsible for installing Fire Sprinkler Systems per NFPA guidelines.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Installation, Maintenance, Inspect, repair and test wet sprinklers, dry sprinklers, deluge sprinklers, fire pumps, Wet/Dry standpipe systems, backflow preventors, fire hydrants, and fire hoses.
- Select type and size of pipe and related materials and equipment, such as supports and hangers, according to specifications.
- Inspect work site to determine presence of obstructions and to ascertain that holes cut for pipe will not cause structural weakness.
- Plan installation or repair to avoid obstructions and to avoid interfering with activities of other workers.
- Cut, thread, groove, and solder pipe.
- Assemble and install a variety of metal and non-metal pipes, tubes, and fittings to include but not be limited to, iron, steel, copper, and plastic.
- Connect pipes using threaded, soldered, grooved, or cemented joints.
- Secure pipes to structure with brackets, clamps, and hangers
- Weld pipe supports to structural steel members.
- Operate machinery to verify repair.
- Provide testing to ensure the maintenance was completed properly.
- Works in compliance with the company’s safety manual with safety of self and others in mind always.
- Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations.
- Maintain company vehicles and equipment.
- Ability to travel overnight as needed.
- Ability to work off step ladders, Extension Ladders, and Lifts.
- Ability to lift up to 100lbs.
Qualifications and Skills
- High school diploma or GED.
- Two to five years' experience as a Fire Sprinkler Technician.
- Knowledgeable in NFPA 13 and 14 Code Requirements.
- Understanding of Piping networks and varies valves.
- Ability to use a Ridgid 300 threader and groover.
- Ability to read blueprints and design layouts.
- Good communication skills both written and verbal.
- Excellent customer service skills.
