Position Summary :
Responsible for laying out, assembling, installing, servicing and maintaining pipe systems, pipe supports, sprinklers, backflow devices and water-based fire protection equipment per NFPA guidelines.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Service, maintenance, Inspect, repair and test wet sprinklers, dry sprinklers, deluge sprinklers, fire pumps, Wet / Dry standpipe systems, backflow preventers, fire hydrants, and fire hoses.
- Select type and size of pipe and related materials and equipment, such as supports and hangers, according to specifications.
- Inspect work site to determine presence of obstructions and to ascertain that holes cut for pipe will not cause structural weakness.
- Plan installation or repair to avoid obstructions and to avoid interfering with activities of other workers.
- Cut, thread, groove and solder pipe.
- Assemble and install a variety of metal and non-metal pipes, tubes and fittings to include but not be limited to, iron, steel, copper and plastic.
- Connect pipes using threaded, soldered, grooved or cemented joints.
- Secure pipes to structure with brackets, clamps and hangers
- Weld pipe supports to structural steel members.
- Operate machinery to verify repair.
- Provide testing to ensure the maintenance was completed properly.
- Work in compliance with the company's safety manual with safety of self and others in mind at all times
- Maintain company vehicles and appropriate inventory levels for jobs.
- Other duties as assigned or needed.
