The Director of Nursing (DON) plays a pivotal role in overseeing the nursing department within a healthcare facility, ensuring that all nursing practices align with the highest standards of patient care. Duties

• Oversee daily operations of the nursing department, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and standards.
• Develop and implement nursing policies and procedures that enhance patient care and promote resident rights.
• Manage the nursing staff, including recruitment, training, performance evaluations, and professional development.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care plans and ensure continuity of care.
• Monitor quality assurance programs to evaluate nursing services and implement improvements as needed.
• Maintain knowledge of current trends in nursing practices, including MDS (Minimum Data Set) assessments and hospice care protocols.
• Ensure adherence to HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality and rights.
• Provide leadership in acute care settings, guiding staff through complex clinical situations.

Requirements

• Valid nursing license with proven experience in nurse management or leadership roles.
• Strong knowledge of anatomy and physiology as it relates to patient care.
• Demonstrated understanding of resident rights and commitment to ethical nursing practices.
• Experience with MDS assessments and familiarity with hospice care principles is preferred.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to lead and motivate a diverse team of healthcare professionals.
• Ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team while maintaining high standards for patient care.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in managing multiple priorities.
