What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pediatric Occupational Therapist position at Kitestrings Pediatric Therapy?
Kitestrings Pediatric Therapy is a private practice located in a growing dynamic area, the

motivated pediatric Occupational Therapist to provide a range of therapeutic services to our
pediatric population.
An ideal candidate will have a holistic perspective and be able to adapt the environment and
therapy to provide specialized, child-specific care. Two years of experience in pediatrics is
preferred, but willing to consider all applicants. Therapists who are self-starters, independent,
and with excellent communication skills are a good match. Proficiency in feeding therapy would
be a bonus.
Responsibilities
- Perform evaluations using relevant standardized tests (e.g. BOT-3, PDMS-3, Sensory
Profile – 2, REAL) as well as informal assessments to create accurate and client-specific
treatment recommendations and plans.
- Select, adapt and implement the appropriate occupational therapy treatment model,
method and approach to best match each client’s needs.
- Apply interventions to maximize safety and performance in activities of daily living (ADL)
and instrumental activities of daily living (IADL).
- Teach clients and parents new ways of approaching tasks and educate them on how to
break down activities into achievable components.
- Assess client’s home and other environments and advice on adaptations consistent with
their needs and capabilities (as appropriate).
- Recommend adaptive equipment and train in its proper use.
- Guide, support, and educate family members and caregivers.
- Maintain appropriate documentation including daily SOAP notes, progress notes,
evaluations, re-evaluations, and discharge notes, including progress on long- and short-
term treatment goals.
- Regularly follow-up with clients and families as needed.
- Collaborate with therapy team.
Skills
- Proven working experience as pediatric occupational therapist.
- Excellent knowledge of principles and practices of occupational therapy including
sensory processing,
- Hands-on experience with computer programs, EMR’s, and creative media
- Independent with pediatric evaluation tools ( e.g. BOT, Peabody, Sensory Profile, REAL)
- Ability to manage patients and families with different types of personalities and support
needs.
- Current knowledge of treatment practices per discipline and drive to continually learn
and grow in the profession.

- Valid license to practice occupational therapy.
- BS degree or greater in occupational therapy, Master's or Doctorate preferred.
- Able to lift and manipulate pediatric therapy equipment safely.
