Job Summary
The Inventory Manager will be part of the Materials Group and will be responsible for managing direct and
indirect employees that oversee the following: shipping and receiving, inventory movement, inventory
control/accuracy, and storage. This position is also responsible for improving productivity and efficiency of
operations and on-time delivery to our customers. The primary objective of the Inventory Manager is to oversee
and direct the supervisors in charge of the receiving, storage, material handling, and conveyance solutions to
support the overall manufacturing operation, improving productivity and creating a more fluid functioning process.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities (*Essential)
1. Responsible for management of direct and indirect reports assigned in the inventory/materials team.*
2. Responsible for assuring all materials are ordered for the dock and materials teams.*
a. Communicate with outside vendors related to dock and store needs when necessary. (i.e. bags,
crates, etc.)*
3. Responsible for attending and leading necessary walks and meetings.*
a. Attend daily Gemba walk as liaison for Materials Group.*
b. Lead weekly safety/information meetings for your direct and indirect reports.*
4. Responsible for assuring cycle counts are completed weekly and are accurate and complete root cause
problem solving on all adjustments in excess of $250.*
5. Write Corrective Action Reports and implement corrective actions needed within the Inventory/Materials
Group on all encountered material issues that impede smooth quick material flow within shop. This is to
be done when issues arise and once completed should be sent to Value Stream Planning Manager for
review. *
Special Location/Position Requirements:
Job Specifications (Work Experience, Skills, Abilities, etc.)
- 3 years’ Union/Non-union management of team of 6 with both direct and indirect reports.
- 3 years’ material flow/inventory control.
- 2 years’ forklift experience.
- Proven ability in material flow and execution process.
- Flexibility/adaptability required to meet multiple demands in a fast-paced environment.
- Coaching/mentoring ability with positive attitude required.
- Good computer skills required, including intermediate working knowledge of Excel.
- Good time management skills required.
Education Requirements:
- College degree preferred; 5 years inventory management experience as a substitute
