What are the responsibilities and job description for the Automotive Parts Manager position at Kitsap Auto Outlet?
We’re growing — and fast. Kitsap Auto Outlet is one of the top-performing independent used car dealerships in Kitsap County. With our service department expanding rapidly, we’re building out a dedicated Parts Department — and we need a rockstar Parts Manager to lead it from the ground up.
This isn’t a backroom parts counter gig. This is a leadership opportunity for a motivated, experienced pro who wants to own the parts operation and help build something that matters.
What You’ll Do
- Take full ownership of all parts operations — ordering, receiving, returns, inventory
- Source high-quality parts quickly and cost-effectively for a wide range of vehicles
- Set up and refine systems for a newly built department
- Build and manage vendor relationships, negotiate pricing and terms
- Support a high-volume reconditioning operation and busy service department
- Work closely with Service Advisors and Technicians to ensure timely repairs
- Handle warranty parts, cores, and credits with precision
- Keep the shop productive by staying one step ahead of demand
What We’re Looking For
- 3–5 years of experience in a Parts Manager/Specialist role (dealership or independent)
- Deep knowledge of OEM and aftermarket parts across multiple makes and models
- Proficient in inventory management, DMS and PO systems
- Comfortable setting up and optimizing department processes
- Strong negotiation skills and vendor management experience
- Able to find the “needle in the haystack” parts when others can’t
- Familiar with used car reconditioning and the pace it demands
Key Traits & Qualities
- Organized: Keeps systems tight, inventory clean, and data accurate
- Process-Oriented: Builds workflows that reduce downtime and drive productivity
- Communicator: Keeps techs, advisors, and leadership aligned
- Resourceful: Hustles hard to get parts when others would give up
- Proactive: Anticipates needs, solves problems before they happen
- Detail-Oriented: Knows one wrong part can throw off an entire day
- Team Player: Supports the shop and sees the big picture
- Adaptable: Thrives in fast-paced, growing environments
- Data-Driven: Uses reports to make smart decisions
- High Integrity: Owns the role, follows through, earns trust
Bonus Points For
- Experience setting up a parts department from the ground up
- Prior work in high-volume used car reconditioning
- Ability to train and mentor future parts team members as we scale
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus in our market
What We Offer
- Competitive compensation well above industry average
- A leadership role with real room to grow
- A seat at the table as we expand and build out new operations
- Support from a hands-on, driven leadership team
- A high-performing, no-drama team that gets the job done
