Job Title: Custodian
Department: Facilities
Hourly Wage: $17.80- $17.80
Position Type: Part Time, Non-Exempt, M-F 5pm to 9pm
Direct Supervisor: Facilities Maintenance Manager
Work Environment: Works both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions. Travel to all KCR sites.
Job Summary
As a Custodian, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of our facilities. This includes performing routine cleaning tasks, such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, and sanitizing surfaces, as well as taking care of more extensive cleaning projects when needed. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, possess strong time management skills, and have a commitment to maintaining a safe and hygienic environment for all occupants.

Job Requirements
Qualifications:
- Required Education: High school diploma or GED.
- Preferred Experience: Commercial or residential janitorial related duties.
- Ability to pass State and/or Federal Background Checks as determined by position (prior to hire date).
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Proven demonstrated experience using different cleaning techniques and the appropriate use of cleaning materials, tools, and equipment.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices to ensure a safe working environment.
- Familiarity with the safe handling, storage, and disposal of cleaning chemicals and solutions.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Demonstrated ability to operate a wide variety of handheld power and manual tools both indoors and outside.
- Strong personal and task organization and time-management skills.
- Has knowledge of and demonstrates proper ergonomic practices, personal protective and safety equipment.
License(s) and/or Certifications:
- Valid Washington State Driver’s License.
- Ability to obtain proof of insurability for operating an automobile.
- First Aide/CPR certification (within 90 days of employment).
- Tuberculosis (TB) Testing (upon employment and before contact with children, testing done before hire will not be recognized).
- Current Immunizations per Washington Administrative Code (can be obtained upon hire.
Essential Physical and Mental Functions
- Demonstrated cognitive ability to recognize appropriate equipment use as designed by manufacturers and instructed by supervisor.
- Demonstrated ability to cognitively recognize and accept verbal and written work instructions.
- Requires walking, reaching/stretching, intermittent sitting, twisting and bending.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate both in writing and verbally.
- Demonstrated cognitive ability to judge cleanliness, task completion, and recognize needed tasks to maintain cleanliness, order and functionality of sites.
- Ability to discern potential safety risks and take appropriate action to ensure the safety of self and others.
- Physical and cognitive ability to operate a motor vehicle.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, including moving furniture and other objects to clean behind and under.
- Simple grasping and hand manipulation required as well as reaching above and below shoulder level.
- Must be able to work outside in a variety of weather conditions.

Responsibilities- Included but are not limited to
- Perform routine tasks at KCR sites such as cleaning, sanitizing, trash removal, restroom maintenance, floor care, window cleaning, and minor repairs.
- Properly utilize cleaning agents and chemicals for best results, recognizing Mater Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) guidelines, manufacturer recommendations and supervisory instructions.
- Ensure compliance with KCR Polices & Procedures, Head Start Performance Standards, federal & state regulations, and Washington Administrative Code for Child Care Licensing
- Utilizes and ensures the display of appropriate safety signage and messages.
- Maintaining a thorough inventory of cleaning and maintenance supplies and report needs to supervision as appropriate.
- Use equipment such as commercial vacuums, floor buffers and carpet cleaners.
- Effectively operate current KCR electronic work order system. Must be able to complete appropriate reports and paperwork.
- Perform daily, routine cleaning and maintenance on equipment as required and reports on status as appropriate.
- Report broken or damaged equipment to management immediately.
- Maintain recordkeeping and reporting systems to ensure accurate information, with timely completion and follow up.
- Operates a wide variety of handheld power and manual tools both indoors and outside.
- Collaborates with staff and leaders throughout the agency to assess needs, design plans and implement appropriate actions to address the needs.
- Completed training, facilitating training, maintaining records and enrollments.
