Job SummaryThe primary function of this position is to perform various water system maintenance tasks as a temporary/seasonal Water Utility Laborer.Reporting To: Water/Wastewater SuperintendentDepartment: Water OperationsSchedule: Monday – Thursday 6:30 am – 5:00 PM, occasional overtime, evenings & weekendsResponsibilities may include, but are not limited to: Maintain a valid Washington State driver’s license with satisfactory driving record.Works well in a team environment.May work with little or no supervision.Shows Self-motivation and a strong work ethic.Meets KPUD’s mission of “Strengthening Kitsap communities through responsive and sustainable utility services.”Performs ground maintenance or closely related work.May drive a truck while towing a utility trailer.Applies knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precaution.Operate small power tools required to complete the maintenance of water systems.Perform traffic control responsibilities, such as setting up, moving, and tearing down traffic control cones and signage, and flagging as needed.Operate weed eater and mower to perform grounds maintenance on utility properties.Clean utility equipment and vehicles.Maintain, clean, and paint fire hydrants, blow-offs, valve markers, and Airvacs.Other duties as assigned.Job Related QualificationsMust be at least 18 years of age.Valid Washington State driver’s license with satisfactory driving record.Special RequirementsWorking conditions include: Lift and move up to 25 pounds, use of construction equipment and hand tools, frequently sitting and standing for extended periods in the field, all weathers, Noise Level Moderate, occasionally exposed to high noise level, working around moving traffic.
