Job Description
Job Title:Food Services Assistant
Reports To: Food Services Director
General Description of Work:
The Food Services Assistant, under the direction of the Food Services Director, is responsible to support the food ministry program. This includes helping pick up supplies, stocking shelves, proper cleaning and sanitization, and the preparation and serving of meals in accordance with County Health Standards.
Essential Functions:
· Assist with meal preparation and the serving of Kitsap Rescue Mission meals to shelter guests
· Work collaboratively with the Food Services Director, KRM support staff and food service volunteers
· Provide support in transporting meals to KRM shelter site
· Supports food services staff and volunteers in performing correct cleaning procedures including mopping, dishwashing, emptying the trash, wiping down tables and chairs, and restacking them.
· Ensure that all equipment is properly maintained and in working order and trains others in correct utilization
· Comply with established health and safety standards including Kitsap County Department of Health, USDA and OSHA
· Help maintain inventory and storage of all consumables
· Help KRM Food Services Director with other duties as needed
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
· Ministry mindset and able to model servant-leadership
· Knowledge of proper food handling and safety
- Planning and organizational skills, detail oriented
- Good mathematics, reading, and writing skills
- Computer literate
- Able to effectively communicate and relate with diverse groups of people
- Willingness to obtain a Food Handler’s Permit (at KRM expense)

Work in varying temperatures from -10 to 110 degrees between winter and summer, coolers and freezers.
