Our full-day Pre-K program provides a nurturing and developmentally appropriate learning environment where our youngest learners grow socially, emotionally, and academically. Mitchell Primary Schools Pre-K was launched in 2024. The program is expanding to 3 classrooms in 2025 with the expectation of a universal, four-classroom Pre-K program beginning in 2026.Key Responsibilities: Create and maintain a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment that fosters exploration and learningDesign and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum aligned with Maine Early Learning GuidelinesUtilize observational assessments to inform instruction and monitor student progressCollaborate with colleagues, support staff, and families to ensure a strong home-school connectionSupport the social-emotional development of students through positive behavior supports and responsive classroom managementParticipate in professional development opportunities and school-wide initiativesQualifications: Maine Department of Education certification in Early Childhood (081) or Early Elementary (029)Strong understanding of child development and early childhood pedagogyExperience with inclusive practices and differentiated instructionExcellent communication and collaboration skillsA nurturing, creative, and flexible approach to teaching young childrenA positive, can-do attitudeA great sense of humorWhy Mitchell Primary School?Located in beautiful Kittery Point, Mitchell Primary serves students in Pre-K through Grade 3 and is part of the Kittery School Districta district committed to continuous improvement.
