Financial Business Manager
Kittery Water District is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Financial Business Manager to oversee the effective operation of our district's finances.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage all district funds, ensuring precise preparation of financial reports and statements for the District's Board of Trustees.
- Oversee customer account management tasks, including billing processes, payment handling, service requests, and responding to customer inquiries and complaints.
- Perform bookkeeping duties concerning accounts receivables, issuing invoices, managing accounts payable transactions, and handling payroll functions.
- Ensure accurate general ledger balancing throughout financial periods.
- Compile and reconcile budgets, investigating and rectifying accounting discrepancies as needed.
- Generate quarterly and annual payroll reports for government compliance, perform monthly bank statement reconciliations, and provide necessary financial data for rate analysis.
Additional responsibilities include assisting the District's accounting firm in the annual preparation of audited financial statements and submitting the Annual Report for Water Utilities to the Maine Public Utilities Commission.
Requirements:
- Expert accounting knowledge, with experience in complex accounting data management and thorough financial reporting.
- Familiarity with banking protocols and investment analysis, including cash flow assessments.
- Proficient in databases and accounting software, with experience in Northern Data Systems Inc., Invision General Ledger, and Edifice Utility Billing Software an advantage.
- Understanding of the Maine Public Utilities Commission Uniform System of Accounts for Water Utilities a plus.
- Ability to learn and navigate office protocols relating to Department, Town, State, and Federal rules and regulations.
