Job Description
Under the management and direction of the Sterile Processing Department Manager, the Sterile Processing Technician performs the highest level of patient care through the execution of highly regulated decontamination and sterilization processes including; inspection and assembly of complex and continually evolving surgical instrumentation, equipment, and emergency packs and trays in accordance with all federal and state regulatory standards, prescribed protocols and current industry standards. The Sterile Processing Technician utilizes specialized skills and knowledge in rotating assignments among various positions within the sterile processing department as needed, to include; endoscope reprocessing, decontamination, prep and pack, sterilization, transportation and sterile storage.
Qualifications
What is required...
- High School Graduate or equivalent;
- Certification will be required within 1 year of enrollment into On-the-Job and online training programs (enrolled by department upon hire).
OR
- Current certification through internationally recognized organization such as the International Association of Healthcare Central Services Material Management, (IAHCSMM) or the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution, (CBSPD).
- Graduate of approved Central Services Technician Course or equivalent education and experience (Certification required within 1 year of hire).
- Current Washington State NAC license or current Washington State MA-C license or One year of previous experience as an NAC or MA-C (Certification required within 1 year of hire).
What is preferred...
- Certified Registered Central Sterile Technician (CRCST) or Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) Certification
- Certified Endoscope Reprocessor
Additional Information
Wage: Wage range depends on certification.
Non-certified: $18.00/hour - $27.28/hour
Certified: $20.93/hour - $31.72/hour
Actual wage will be determined based on previous years of applicable experience. This position may qualify for shift differentials; Evening (3p - 11p) = $2.00/hour, Night (11p - 7a) = $3.00, Weekend = $3.50/hour
FTE: 1.0 = 40 hours/week
Schedule: Primarily Monday through Friday, 11:30am-8:00pm
