Position Summary
An unlicensed design professional competent in all conventional aspects of architecture, performs work requiring independent judgment in evaluation, selection, and adaptation/modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria. Receives technical guidance on unusual or complex issues and supervisory approval on proposed project plans. This includes working with third-party design contracts and coordination of structural, MEP, and work with civil vendors. Must be highly proficient with AutoCAD and Revit.
Pre-Design
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Excellent design and drafting skills with computer-aided design (CAD) AutoCAD required, Revit
required, and MS Office tools
Language Skills
Ability to read, write, interpret and analyze complex documents. Ability to respond to time sensitive design/construction related inquiries and question. Ability to effectively write speeches and persuade others using innovative techniques or style.
Math Skills
Ability to work with concepts such as probability and fundamentals of geometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to situations.
Reasoning Skills: Ability to apply principles and logic of scientific thinking for a wide range of intellectual and practical issues. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (scientific equations, graphs, etc.) and deal with a variety of concrete an abstract variables.

- Use urban planning, landscape, and civil engineering practices to detail community sizes, unit quantities, and amenities.
- Prepare scale drawings of site layouts and elevations.
- Collaborate with estimating to ensure design alignment with construction budgets.
- Consult with clients to determine project requirements.
- **Construction Documentation:**
- Translate schematic drawings into construction documents.
- Attend project-related meetings.
- Verify interdepartmental commitments and agency requirements.
- Collaborate with engineering consultants during design and construction phases.
- Develop and read construction specifications.
- **Construction Administration:**
- Assist architects in reviewing shop drawings and submittals.
- Travel: Up to 25%

- Provide preliminary design drawings to assigned state and federally funded tax credit applications. The use of fundamental standard urban planning, landscape, civil engineering practices to accurately depict community size, unit quantities and amenities
- Prepare scale drawings of site, building layout and elevations
- Consult with Estimating to ensure design is fully aligned with Construction Budget
- Consult with client/department to determine functional and spatial requirements of proposed project(s)
- Develop project design drawings in accordance with Architect’s design parameters
- Coordinate documentation of any existing structures for renovation project
- Translate schematic drawings into construction documents
- Attend meetings related to the assigned project
- Verify interdepartmental requirements and commitments to agencies
- Work with Mechanical, Plumbing, Electrical, Structural, Civil Engineering and other assigned consultants during design and construction phases
- Proficient with reading and writing specifications
- Develop project design drawings in accordance with Architect’s design parameters
- Assist Architect with reviewing shop drawings and submittals
- Travel: 25% or less
- Work with and meet the demands of the internal departments and schedules related to the assigned project(s)
- Other duties as assigned
- Currently taking classes at architectural curriculum
- AutoCAD and Revit experience required
- Experience designing multi-family, hotel, assisted living, or other multi-story habitable units preferred
- Knowledge of general construction practices
- Organizational, project management and planning skills, including the ability to handle multiple tasks
- An analytical mind with excellent problem-solving ability
