As an Architect Intern, you'll be an integral part of our team, using your skills and creativity to impact real projects. You'll work independently, applying your knowledge to evaluate, select, and adapt architectural techniques and procedures. Get ready to engage with third-party design contracts and coordinate with structural, MEP, and civil vendors.
Key Responsibilities :Pre-Design :Conduct field measurements for acquisition / rehab projects.Provide preliminary design drawings for tax credit applications.Use urban planning, landscape, and civil engineering practices to detail community sizes, unit quantities, and amenities.Prepare scale drawings of site layouts and elevations.Collaborate with estimating to ensure design alignment with construction budgets.Consult with clients to determine project requirements.Construction Documentation :Translate schematic drawings into construction documents.Attend project-related meetings.Verify interdepartmental commitments and agency requirements.Collaborate with engineering consultants during design and construction phases.Develop and read construction specifications.Construction Administration :Assist architects in reviewing shop drawings and submittals.General Expectations :Travel : Up to 25%Meet internal departmental demands and schedules.Support our mission and values through behaviors of excellence, collaboration, innovation, respect, and accountability.Qualifications :Enrolled in an architectural curriculum.Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit is required.Experience in designing multi-family, hotel, or multi-story units is preferred.Strong organizational and project management skills.Analytical with excellent problem-solving abilities.Proficient in CAD, AutoCAD, Revit, and MS Office tools.Ability to read, write, and analyze complex documents.Effective communication and persuasive skills.Solid math skills with an understanding of geometry and statistics.Join us and gain invaluable experience with a leader in the multi-family housing industry. POSITION SUMMARY :
An unlicensed design professional competent in all conventional aspects of architecture, performs work requiring independent judgment in evaluation, selection, and adaptation / modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria. Receives technical guidance on unusual or complex issues and supervisory approval on proposed project plans. This includes working with third-party design contracts and coordination of structural, MEP, and work with civil vendors. Must be highly proficient with AutoCAD and Revit.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Pre-Design :
Conducts field measurements for acquisition / rehab projectsProvide preliminary design drawings to assigned state and federally funded tax credit applications. The use of fundamental standard urban planning, landscape, civil engineering practices to accurately depict community size, unit quantities and amenitiesPrepare scale drawings of site, building layout and elevationsConsult with Estimating to ensure design is fully aligned with Construction BudgetConsult with client / department to determine functional and spatial requirements of proposed project(s)Develop project design drawings in accordance with Architect's design parametersCoordinate documentation of any existing structures for renovation projectConstruction Documentation :
Translate schematic drawings into construction documentsAttend meetings related to the assigned projectVerify interdepartmental requirements and commitments to agenciesWork with Mechanical, Plumbing, Electrical, Structural, Civil Engineering and other assigned consultants during design and construction phasesProficient with reading and writing specificationsDevelop project design drawings in accordance with Architect's design parametersConstruction Administration :

Currently taking classes at architectural curriculumAutoCAD and Revit experience requiredExperience designing multi-family, hotel, assisted living, or other multi-story habitable units preferredKnowledge of general construction practicesOrganizational, project management and planning skills, including the ability to handle multiple tasksAn analytical mind with excellent problem-solving abilityComputer Skills :
Excellent design and drafting skills with computer-aided design (CAD) AutoCAD required, Revit
required, and MS Office tools
Language Skills :
Ability to read, write, interpret and analyze complex documents. Ability to respond to time sensitive design / construction related inquiries and question. Ability to effectively write speeches and persuade others using innovative techniques or style.
Math Skills :
Ability to work with concepts such as probability and fundamentals of geometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to situations.
Reasoning Skills : Ability to apply principles and logic of scientific thinking for a wide range of intellectual and practical issues. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (scientific equations, graphs, etc.) and deal with a variety of concrete an abstract variables.
