JOB SUMMARY:
As an Activities Aide, your primary responsibility is to assist in planning, organizing, and implementing recreational and therapeutic activities for residents. This role is crucial in promoting their physical, mental, and emotional well-being by engaging them in meaningful and enjoyable activities. These activities may include games, arts and crafts, music therapy, exercise programs, outings and social events. This role is essential in fostering a positive and stimulating environment that enhances residents’ quality of life, promotes social interaction, and supports their overall health and happiness.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
- Proficiently be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in order to interact with both patients and healthcare professionals.
- Familiarity with variety of recreational activities suitable for different cognitive and physical abilities.
- Creativity and adaptability to assist engaging and enjoyable actives for residents interests and needs.
- Knowledge of geriatric care and activities of daily living (ADLs).
- Must possess ability to support, encourage and strive for excellent level of care, which accommodates each resident in the ability to be independent and promotes their overall well-being.
- Must have the ability to adapt to the personalities of residents and/or coworkers and use tact in all forms of communication.
- Strong empathy and patience to provide emotional support and encouragement to residents during activities.
- Organizational and time management skills to support scheduled activities are facilitated efficiently.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Currently in High School or Graduate or GED
- Must be 15 years of age
- Must pass MN background check and fingerprinting.
- Complete TB test within the first 3 weeks of employment.
JOB SCHEDULE/LOCATION(S):
- Hallock, MN
- 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm and weekend shift
- Rotating weekends and holidays availability
- Long-term care setting
