Island News (KITV/KIKU) the ABC affiliate in Honolulu, HI is looking for a full-time Digital Content Manager. The Digital Content Manager (DCM) is primarily responsible for developing and executing new media strategies for KITV4 Island News and all its digital platforms, including web, mobile, and other content distribution platforms.
Job Responsibilities:
The position is responsible for improving functionality of the digital platforms on a day-to-day basis including improving navigation and usability. This includes daily content, editing content, upkeep of site sections, video editing/producing, social media management, HTML coding, and web-exclusive content.
The DCM will work closely with digital producers to plan and execute daily digital content coverage, as well as set long-term digital content goals.
The DCM will also be involved in teaching and coaching the news team on how to best post and promote stories on all digital platforms that is consistent with the goals/objectives and strategy of the newsroom.
The DCM will work directly under the News Director and closely with other station management to provide support on other special digital initiatives and projects.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Journalism, Digital Media or other related field.
- Minimum 3 years of work experience in writing/editorial capacity in a news organization-- a television news station, daily newspaper, or in an on-line news environment.
- Must have 2 years of direct work experience with producing and innovating digital content, plus developing digital strategies.
- Must be knowledgeable with AP writing style and operate with the highest journalistic standards.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work activities and tasks handling multiple assignments, while meeting “tight” deadlines in an environment subject to constant change and interruptions.
- Must have outstanding interpersonal skills; a team player.
