Klamath County Fire District 1, located in Klamath Falls, Oregon has a career opening for a Division Chief of Support Services.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Under the supervision of the Deputy Chief, the Division Chief of Support Services is responsible for developing and implementing the Districts Health and Safety Programs and serves as the Districts Logistical Chief, overseeing facility upkeep, maintenance items, construction projects, long range planning, and coordinates the maintenance and repair of the District's apparatus fleet. The Support Services Chief establishes and maintains vendor relationships and serves as department's liaison when establishing these agreements. Is responsible for providing logistics support at Fire and EMS scenes. Oversees the purchase and maintenance of District owned equipment while maintaining an accurate inventory. Develops data to analyze complex issues, evaluates alternative solutions, develops sound conclusions, and recommends a course of action. Manages compliance with District operated programs and regulations to ensure strict adherence. Oversees the Infection Control Policy and maintains all infection control records while assisting with policy development and establishing new methods and procedures.

The ideal candidate will be a well-educated and experienced Fire Service professional with a proven track record of successful leadership in a similar sized or larger organization. Critical experience includes significant background in providing a full range of Fire and Emergency Medical services, including administration and finance functions. Familiarity with facility upkeep, construction projects, long range planning, providing logistical support and strong health and safety programs experience are preferred. The ideal candidate will have the ability develop data to analyze complex issues, evaluate and develop sound conclusions with recommended course of action. Possess the ability to rapidly gain support of the District's personnel and the Klamath Falls community.

SCHEDULE

This is a full-time, 40 hours a week, Monday-Friday position; however, this position participates in the Duty Chief Rotation and evening and weekend work is required. This is a uniformed, salaried position and frequently results in working greater than 40 hours a week.

COMPENSATION

128,957.12- $136,810.65 Annually

  • MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

    Consideration will be given to any combination of education and experience that would reflect meeting the qualifications and provide the ability to successfully perform the duties of the position. Equivalent or additional education, experience, and certifications from other states or agencies may be considered.

    EDUCATION

    Associates Degree in EMS / Paramedicine, Fire Administration, Public Administration, Fire Science or closely related field.

    CERTIFICATIONS / LICENSES

    Required current licenses and / or certifications associated with the position, or ability to obtain within one (1) year through DPSST, NFPA and / or another nationally recognized organization if stated below.

  • EMT or Paramedic
  • NIMS - ICS 100, 200, 300, 400, 700, 800
  • Blue Card IC (or ability to obtain certification within 1 year)
  • NFPA Fire Officer 2 (or equivalent)
  • NFPA Instructor I
  • NFPA Hazardous Materials Operations
  • NFPA Incident Safety Officer (or ability to obtain within 1 year)
  • Possession of a driver's license valid in Oregon and maintain a safe driving record throughout the duration of employment.
  • EXPERIENCE

    Three (3) years supervisory experience with at least one (1) year as an AIC Battalion Chief or Battalion Chief, or equivalent.

    Eight (8) years paid full-time emergency response experience with a paid or combination fire agency of equal or greater size and complexity.

    Computer experience with an emphasis in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, databases, Fire / EMS based reporting and staffing programs, and work in a networked environment.

    RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT

    A residency requirement applies to this position. This position requires performance as a responder to emergency scenes. The position at time will act and respond as a Duty Officer. Residency with 15 minutes normal driving time of the Fire Districts boundaries is required.

    ABOUT KLAMATH COUNTY FIRE DISTRICT 1

    Klamath County Fire District 1 (KCFD1) is a Special District governed by an elected, five-member Board of Directors. The District provides fire protection to 192 square miles in and around the City of Klamath Falls serving roughly 60,000 patrons with an ISO rating of 2 / 10. The District also provides ALS Transport services and is assigned Klamath County Ambulance Service Area #5 that covers a total of 490 square miles. The diverse area covered includes urban / suburban areas and rural / frontier as well.

    In 2024, KCFD1 personnel responded to mitigate 9,847 calls for service; 2% Fire, 76% EMS, and 22% Non-Fire other call types.
