General Position Summary
Klamath County is seeking a qualified Family Nurse Practitioner to provide direct client care and medication management services at the Klamath County Juvenile Facility. This position is responsible for delivering comprehensive, trauma-informed health services to justice-involved youth in both detention and residential treatment settings. The FNP will also provide leadership to nursing staff and support medication management programs in accordance with the Oregon Health Authority, Oregon State Board of Nursing, and agency policies.

Essential Responsibilities
Provide skilled nurse practitioner services to youth in detention and the Klamath Crimson Rose (KCR) residential treatment program.
Oversee medication administration and management systems; supervise medication training for staff.
Conduct comprehensive health assessments, including physical and psychosocial histories.
Perform physical exams and diagnostic evaluations; prescribe medications and treatment plans.
Coordinate patient care with other nurses, providers, and specialists.
Educate youth on preventative care, reproductive health, and available community resources.
Maintain detailed medical records and ensure documentation meets compliance standards.
Provide consultation and respond to health-related inquiries from staff and clients.
Review incoming medical records and labs; provide follow-up as needed.
Uphold confidentiality, professionalism, and ethical standards in all interactions.
Qualifications
Education & Certification
Master’s degree in nursing from an accredited program.
Current, valid Family Nurse Practitioner License in the State of Oregon.
CPR Certification required.
Certified to insert/remove subdermal implants.
Valid Oregon Driver’s License.
Preferred
Bilingual in Spanish (not required but highly valued).
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Strong knowledge of nursing techniques, medical equipment, and testing procedures.
Experience in counseling and health education with diverse or at-risk populations.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; capable of writing professional reports and interpreting health regulations.
Competent in basic mathematics, unit conversions, and medication dosage calculations.
Proficient with basic computer software and internet platforms.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and adapt to changing priorities.
Physical Requirements
Frequently required to walk, sit, talk, hear, and use hands.
Occasionally required to stand, kneel, or lift up to 25 pounds.
Must have close and distance vision capabilities.
Work Schedule & On-Call Requirements
Full-time, primarily weekday schedule.
Occasional on-call consultation required for medical guidance to facility staff.
