Salary:
Currently $49,638.36-$92,138.12 (DOE). Plus TOSA stipend that is 4% of the base wage for KFEA and a SPED Stipend of $1,240.73. Still being negotiated for 2025-2026.
Insurance:
Generous Health, dental, and vision contribution from the district, currently up to $2202 (based upon family coverage), TBD for 2025-2026
PERS Retirement:
The district assumes and pays the 6% average employee contribution to the Oregon PERS system.

190 Days 3 days new teacher inservice. Calendar will include work days between July 1st and June 30th.

Essential Skills and Requirements:
- Possess Oregon Teaching License with Special Education Endorsement through Teacher Standards & Practices Commission.
- Have at least 2 years of successful classroom teaching as a special education teacher
- Knowledge of K-12 Special Education.
- Knowledge of child growth and development at each level of instruction.
- Possess specific knowledge and demonstrated ability to understand special education regulations, policies and procedures in relation to students, parents and staff.
- Possess excellent and appropriate oral and written communication skills with a diverse group of colleagues, parents, families, and community members.
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills (communication, problem solving, conflict management, collaboration).
- Have excellent time-management skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and with diverse teams.
- Knowledge in working with online platforms.
- Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with stakeholders including students and families.
- Coordinate and supervise Extended School Year Services.
- Fulfill the role of a family liaison for students receiving special education services who are navigating educational options.
- Complete Individual Education Program (IEP) for home learning, Klamath Crimson Rose (KCR), and Juvenile Detention Education Programs.
- Adhere to a high level of professional and ethical standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate a commitment to advocate for the needs of all students, especially students with disabilities and the need to educate them in a least restrictive environment.
- Supports implementation of best practices for inclusive education for students served by special education kindergarten through transition program.
- Supports implementation of culturally responsive, social emotional learning and trauma informed teaching practices and anti-bias education.
- Provide education assessments and written reports.
- Uses a variety of assessment tools to assess academic skills, cognitive ability, psychological processing, adaptive skills, social skills, and emotional/behavioral status.
- Plans and develops programs or services for the needs of students through consultations with district personnel, community members, parents, and outside agencies.
- Serves as liaison with parents and guardians.
- Identifies community resources for parents of students with disabilities and coordinates services with outside providers, pediatricians, and therapists to support needs of students.
- Provides technical assistance to district staff relative to program development, instructional methods, materials, equipment, and facilitation.
- Monitors IEP process in assigned buildings to assure compliance with federal, state, and district rules.
- Provides technical assistance and training, when necessary.
- Develops and manages private school service plans.
- Facilitates and acts as a district representative at problem solving, IEP, and eligibility meetings.
- Participates in special projects as assigned.
- Performs related duties and key responsibilities consistent with the scope and intent of the position, including, but not limited to coordinating ESY program with case managers, coordinating ECSE to Kindergarten transitions in collaboration with ECI Director for both city and county schools, supports mandatory state and federal reporting, as needed.
- Maintains confidentiality of student records and student information.
- Discusses and collaborates about district special education programs, personnel and students with building administrators.
- Coordinates with building principals regarding caseloads, schedules, special education transportation needs, and special education state assessment processes.
- Facilitates Manifestation Determination meetings.
- Mentors and supports new special education case managers.
- Plans and provides relevant professional development to small and large groups.
- Facilitates team meetings and participates in department PLC.
- Collaborates to support completion of required state collections and improvement plans.
- Monitors assessment practices across the district for students with special needs.
- Works collaboratively to implement district and program initiatives.
- Use technology fluently to manage all components of the job requirements.
- Works to establish open lines of communication with students, parents and colleagues concerning both the academic and behavioral progress of students.
- Maintains regular, on-time attendance.
- Willingness to be a contributing member of a highly effective team by demonstrating commitment, flexibility, positivity, collaboration and sense of humor.
- Submits reports, records, and assignments promptly and effectively meeting all district timelines.
- Attends and participates in weekly department meetings.
- Performs related duties as assigned by the director.
