POSITION OVERVIEW
The Technology Support Manager leads district-wide initiatives to implement, maintain, and optimize education technology. The Manager supports district staff using educational technology, including student information systems, learning management systems, digital curriculum resources, and classroom hardware. The Manager develops, delivers, and tracks professional learning to ensure staff adopt technology successfully. Additionally, this role manages digital curriculum resources and oversees curriculum delivery and rostering platforms, focusing on enabling staff to utilize district technology resources effectively.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Responsibilities and duties may vary but the essential job duties will include the following:
- Plans, coordinates, and leads projects related to technology implementation and system enhancements.
- Oversees district-wide management of education platforms such as learning management systems and student information systems.
- Identifies and resolves (with support from other IMTC staff) technology problems that interfere with the delivery of instruction.
- Works closely with staff from IMTC, Curriculum Department, and District schools to set priorities for and develop staff training to meet needs related to the use of technology (SIS, LMS, Digital Curriculum, etc.).
- Develops lessons, tutorials, and support strategies based on knowledge of educational technologies to meet district needs.
- Acts as liaison between Curriculum, instructional staff, and IMTC.
- Develops, schedules, and provides one-to-one and group professional development/learning.
- Manages digital curriculum resources with input from the Curriculum department, instructional leads, and other stakeholders.
- Identifies, analyzes, and provides recommendations for the use of educational technologies.
- Communicates with staff to disseminate technology updates, guidance, new system features, shortcuts, share problems/resolutions, policy changes, etc.
- Keeps up-to-date on the latest instructional technology updates, products, trends, and industry best practices.
- Participates in district workgroups to evaluate new curriculum purchases.
- Maintains data on training activities, programs, and resources. Provides reports as necessary.
- Prioritize work assignments to ensure timely completion as determined by need assessment and/or supervisor.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse stakeholders to help ensure positive outcomes.
- Communicates clearly, concisely, and effectively both orally and in writing.
- Provides backup to IMTC Technicians to provide end-user support in all areas of technology.
- Other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Certifications and licenses must be maintained for the duration of employment.
Education
Associate’s degree in Education, Information Technology, Business, or related field. Related experience and/or training or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Certifications/Licenses
Possession of a driver’s license valid in Oregon and maintain a safe driving record throughout the duration of employment.
Experience
2 years of professional experience using, training, or supporting the use of educational technology including (but not limited to) things such as student information systems (Synergy, PowerSchool, etc.), learning management systems (Canvas, Blackboard, Google Classroom, etc.), and digital learning/curriculum delivery platforms (Clever, Classlink, etc.) at an intermediate level.
Other
Computer experience with an emphasis in the use of Google Workspace; Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint; and work in a networked environment.
Ability to develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with school and district employees, Education Services District personnel, and Oregon Department of Education staff.
Ability to work effectively in an environment with frequent interruptions.
Ability to maintain confidentiality in all matters related to student information, school and district performance on state and federal accountability measures, school and district funding, etc.
Knowledge of K-12 education systems, including school and district operations, the relationship between student information systems and school funding or accountability, and common education vernacular.
Excellent oral, written communication and presentation skills and the ability to prepare accurate records, reports, and documentation in clear and simple context.
Demonstrate sensitivity to the cultural, ethnic, gender, and religious diversity of students, staff, parents, and community.
Successful experience in working with culturally diverse families and communities, or have otherwise demonstrated a commitment to strengthening engagement of a diverse community and skill in communicating with a diverse population
Ability to type accurately at a minimum of 50 WPM.
Proficient at 10-key.
